I can't explain how excited I am that this little girl of Charlotte's has horns!!!
I have 3 girls all from JD but different mums, who look basically the same, Evie, Rain and this little one. And she's the first with horns the other 2 are polled.
We decided to call her Dolly, as a tribute to Dolly Parton, her grandmother is named Jolene so there's a connection there lol

All the ewes have finished lambing over the last week,
Rosie had triplet boys straight after Zoë's triplet girls, then Holly had boy girl twins and the other Finn ewe gave us our first Finn Fresian.... A single ram lamb 😩😂

And then Ina was last with also a single ram lamb, with a hands down win for the boys at 10 boys and 6 girls!!

All are doing well though and glad I've finally allowed them to have a pen a little further from the house since I'm no longer on baby watch ❤️

My new little buckling arrived last night!

Lola produces over 2.5L a day and milks for 10months of the year, only drying up prior to kidding

Last year I really wanted a boy out of this doe, but had a buck overload at the time, so when I saw she had kidded again and had 2 boys I was so excited to add a buckling of hers to our herd 😁

So this is our little bottle lamb Lucky, original name I know 😂
He's one of Daisy's boys, she decided she liked raising one lamb last year and wants to do it again, so she rejected him 😔

We called him Lucky, because when I found him at 3 days old he was so cold and I thought he was dead, but after warming him up in front of the fire he came good pretty fast.

He's a lot smaller than his brother, he's a week old now and only 3.7kg, but he's strong and has a will to live. So now he sleeps with the baby goats at night while they're seperated for milking mums, and during the day he sleeps outside the front door in the sunshine or follows me around everywhere.

He's a bit lonely at the moment as the lambs and sheep don't accept him and his buddy goats spend all day with their mums (who don't like him either), but I have a feeling he'll have someone to relate to in about 3 days 😁

This is a double post because I have been so busy I forgot to update about Poppy

So on Sunday afternoon about 5:30 Poppy gave us a beautiful boy and girl! Both are doing great and she's a great mum this year, last year she rejected one.

And last night Zoë finally released the hostages 😂 I wish I had a photo that conveyed how huge she was!

A few weeks ago I noticed she was starting to prolapse, and I immediately got to YouTube to find out how to make her a homemade harness to help her, it worked very well! And I was so anxious waiting for her babies, not only to see what she had, but to know she is safe and well and could have her harness taken off.

Anyway, this morning I went out to feed our bottle baby lamb (will update about that one too) and saw her walking around with one girl lamb! I didn't see any others around and I thought oh wow she was so big for only having one baby in there!

Then as we drove past to the bus, I looked over and saw her standing under a tree with her lamb, and I saw 2 little ears poking out of the grass next to her!!!
When I got home I went over to check if there was a second baby or if maybe it was someone else's lamb, and there was a third baby hidden in the grass too!! And yep, all hers!!
I checked the sexes and we have 3 beautiful big girls!!!
They are 75% east Friesian 25% dorper

Taking the lamb tally so far to 4 boys and 5 girls!!!

To say I'm overjoyed is an understatement 😂

Anyone who knows me (or has grown asparagus) will understand how excited I am to finally be picking some asparagus again...

Anyone who knows me (or has grown asparagus) will understand how excited I am to finally be picking some asparagus again! After moving twice in the last 3 years, I've been seriously missing my homegrown asparagus, I planted these crowns in pots at our last house so I could easily take them when we moved, and they were the first thing I planted into the ground here.
Some are from seedlings so are behind the crowns, but with some goat house mulch/fertilizer applied during the winter, they are now taking off with the warmer and longer days 😅

Once you have tasted homegrown asparagus, fresh from the ground, lightly sauteed, with nothing but olive oil and a crack of salt, you can never go back to shop bought crap, that's sat in a cool room for God knows how long, after travelling from Mexico for people to eat it out of season.
Really what nutrition is left in them by then anyway?

I literally have not eaten asparagus in the last 3 years apart from when I found a lady selling some on Facebook about 40km away from our old house, and I went there every fortnight to buy all she could spare, grown in her garden 💚
