Lower Murray Water is proposing to lower the height of the Red Cliffs Water Tower.

The tower is now 100 years old and stands at just over 21 metres tall. We want to be able to ensure that the tower's look is preserved (including the current mural) for the future.

To achieve this, we are looking to lower its height so that for public safety reasons we can prevent parts of the site cracking and falling from a significant height.

We won't be holding water in the Tower from early 2027. Increased urban water pressure to Red Cliffs will be provided from our new pumping system, therefore we would look to place stabilized sand in the tower instead.

The ladder on the side of the tower will also be removed so people can't climb on it.

Community members can read more about the Red Cliffs High Pressure system works and provide any questions or comments on our Your Say page https://bit.ly/LMWRCHP about the proposal.

A big 'thank you' to the 100s of people who provided feedback to us at the Red Cliffs Country Markets over the Kings Birthday weekend. Your feedback and questions are much appreciated.

**Reminder to river users in Mildura, Gol Gol and Buronga**

Essential maintenance works at the Mildura Weir will start on Tuesday 9 June after the King’s Birthday long weekend.

The works involve replacing two of the trestles that control the flow of water through the weir.

Important things to remember:
• Lock 11 closes to all river craft from 4.30pm Monday 8 June
• Access to Lock Island will be closed from 7am to 6pm, reopening in the evenings for access to the Trail of Lights.
• Works are expected to finish by Sunday 5 July.

During this time you may notice lower river levels upstream and some riverbank exposed while the weir pool is gradually lowered.

Boat operators, river pumpers and other river users are encouraged to consider the lowering of the weir pool and the lock closure when planning their activities.
