JOB OPPORTUNITY - FEEDLOT LIVESTOCK LEADING HAND

With the completion of our newly expanded feedlot facility Condabri Beef is expanding its 35,000-head feedlot operations livestock team and seeking experienced, motivated Livestock Leading Hands to join our growing team.

We're looking for proactive and positive individuals who are passionate about cattle, eager to learn, and excited to contribute to a thriving, family-owned organisation.

Key Responsibilities
· Support the Livestock Assistant Manager and Livestock Manager with daily operations.
· Lead the livestock team every second weekend to deliver best practice in livestock management and processing.
· Coordinate and be responsible for weekend operations including daily update.
· Be responsible and accountable for all QA paperwork for arrival and dispatch requirements.
· Perform daily pen riding and pen movements using low-stress stock handling techniques
· Monitor and maintain the health of cattle and horses in the feedlot, adhering to QA standards and company procedures
· Manage induction and drafting of all livestock, ensuring data accuracy, quality, and animal welfare
· Maintain effective daily communication and coordination with the Feedmill, Maintenance, Office, and Logistics teams

Ideal Skillset

The following skills and attributes are essential for this role:
· Ability to work a 10/4 roster
· Previous feedlot leadership experience is required
· A minimum of 2-3 years feedlot leadership experience is required
· A current driver's licence and reliable transport
· A current car licence (C) is required along with reliable transport
· Ownership of two suitable working horses, fully vaccinated for Hendra
· Solid horsemanship background with proven, hands-on experience in handling, training, and caring for horses
· Demonstrated livestock handling skills and sound knowledge of animal behaviour in a feedlot environment
· Physically fit and capable of performing manual handling and other physically demanding tasks
· Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
· Experience using Elynx programs, including StockAid and FY3000
· Comprehensive working knowledge of Elynx programs (StockAid and FY3000) is required at start of employment
· Strong commitment to safety, animal welfare, and biosecurity protocols
· Australian citizenship is required for this position

The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager, this is a unique dual role for a capable and enthusiastic couple who bring a passion for agriculture, animal husbandry, and rural living. The successful applicants will work across all facets of mixed farming, including cattle work, cropping, machinery operation, general maintenance, and homestead support.

A Family-Friendly Role
This position is well suited to a couple seeking a balanced lifestyle. The homestead support role offers flexible, family-friendly hours—ideal for a mum or partner who would like to work during school hours. Duties can include gardening, cleaning, seasonal harvest cooking, and assisting with other domestic and farm-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities
Farming & Livestock Duties:
• Mustering, drafting, feeding, vaccinating, and trucking cattle
• Monitoring and maintaining livestock water systems
• Fence repairs and construction
• Dryland cropping – seeding, planting, fertilising, harvesting (summer and winter crops)
• W**d and erosion control
• Operation and basic servicing of farm machinery (tractors, loaders, trucks, headers etc.)

Maintenance Duties:
• Infrastructure upkeep – fencing, sheds, and buildings
• Machinery servicing and repair, including welding and mechanical work
• General property upkeep – mowing, slashing, spraying, and shed tidiness

Homestead & Garden Duties (as applicable):
• General cleaning of shared and residential areas (kitchen, bathrooms, offices)
• Gardening, mowing, mulching, pruning, and hedge maintenance
• Light domestic assistance and seasonal support around the homestead

What We’re Looking For
• Minimum 2-year experience in mixed farming or livestock production
• Machinery operation and mechanical aptitude (welding highly regarded)
• Cattle handling experience (horses and motorbike skills preferred)
• Ability to work independently and as a team
• Physically fit and safety-conscious
• Basic computer literacy and confident record-keeping
• MC licence or willingness to obtain is an advantage
• Proactive, respectful, and good communicators
• Willing to live and contribute to a rural community
