Red Gum Herefords is situated just outside the friendly township of Millicent in the fertile Limstone Coast region, in the South-East of South Australia. "Emerald", the property on which Red Gum Herefords is situated, is owned and operated in partnership by Andrew and Greg Bell and their families. The property was originally a mixed farming operation however a fall in wool prices in the middle of
the 20th century led to the family concentrating on cattle and cropping. Ever since this shift in enterprise, the family has bred Hereford cattle. Cattle graze amongst fresh, lush green pasture amongst giant Red Gum trees, on rich, fertile soils. The lush pasture and high winter rainfall is a feature of this area of South Australia and the cattle do especially well in these conditions year round. These favourable conditions result in a product that is tender, juicy and mouth-watering. Red Gum Herefords are grass fed and hormone growth promotants free. The cattle are handled in a low stress manner, whether that be in cattle yards, on trucks or simply out grazing in paddocks. We consider ourselves the luckiest people in the world; we get to work outside everyday and witness nature in all its glory; birth, life and beautiful animals.
