When the weatherman says 100% chance of rain but our customers request black sapotes … our customers get black sapotes.

It was a whole family affair picking this morning, Marty up the ladder with the snips and the kids and I (Kaitlyn) on catching duty.

We have some delicious organics available from the farm shed … all organic. Bananas, black sapotes, pumpkin, ruby red grapefruit, pomelos, passionfruit and soursop.

Ever tried a Black Sapote?

Often called the “Chocolate Pudding Fruit”, black sapote develops a rich, soft texture when fully ripe and has a mild, sweet flavour that surprises most people!

A couple of fun facts:
🍫 Despite its nickname, it contains no chocolate at all.
🌱 It’s packed with vitamin C and is naturally low in fat.

Fresh organic Black Sapote available now at 5 Ohl Road, along with bananas, ruby red grapefruit, pomelo, bush lemons, pumpkin and turmeric.

Grown organically right here on the farm.

Have you ever tried soursop? 🌿

This tropical fruit is one of my favourites. Once ripe, it’s incredibly soft and juicy, with a flavour that’s often described as a mix of pineapple 🍍, strawberry 🍓, banana 🍌 and citrus 🍋.

A few things to know:
✔️ Eat only the white flesh.
✔️ Remove and discard the black seeds.
✔️ Delicious fresh, in smoothies, frozen desserts or even dehydrated.

Fresh from the farm this week

We’ve just restocked the produce stall and have plenty of beautiful organic produce available.

* Bananas – $3.50/kg
* Soursop – $7/kg
* Pumpkin – Firsts $3.30/kg | Seconds $2/kg (Marks on the skin from growing in the paddock but still cut and eat beautifully)
* Paw Paw – $3/kg (We can pick them just as they start to colour or green for cooking and salads)
* Ruby Red Grapefruit – $1 each (Only a couple of weeks left for these)
* Bush Lemons – $1 each or 5 for $4 (Also nearly finished for the season)
* Whole Mature Coconuts – $2 each
* Pomelos – XXL $1.50 each | XL $1 each
* Bullet Chillis – $1 for 5
* Turmeric – $15/kg
* Pak Choi (limited) – $2.50/bag
* Kaffir Lime Leaves – $1.50/bunch
* Black Sapote – $1.50–$2 each
* Yellow Sapote – $1 each

Everything is grown organically right here on our Mission Beach farm.

Fresh from our farm to your table.

This box is packed with a mix of our organic produce including bananas, paw paw, grapefruit, lemons, ginger, greens, pumpkin and more – all grown organically right here on our farm.

We know not everyone can make it out to the farm, so if you’re in Mission Beach, Tully or along the way, send us a message. We head into Tully three times a week and are around Mission Beach regularly, so we’re happy to organise a drop-off when we can.

If you’ve been wanting to stock up on fresh, local produce, now is a great time to get in touch.

Marty was potting up tomato seedlings today and we got three done before realising we might have the bacteria that causes bacterial wilt in our soil. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Since we’ve never grown tomatoes here before, we decided it was probably best not to risk the whole lot.

The first three were potted up using our farm soil, while the rest went into pots filled with straight seedling mix instead.

Now we’ll wait and see how our three test plants go. If they thrive, great. If not, we’ll know we may need to rethink how we grow tomatoes here.

One of the things we’re learning is that every property is different. We’ve grown plenty of things successfully here but tomatoes are a new one for us, so this will be a good little experiment.

We’ll keep you updated on how our three guinea pig tomato plants go! 🍅
