A Little Update from Brighton Oysters 🦪

🌊 To our amazing customers, supporters, and oyster lovers, we wanted to share a quick update with you all.

After what’s been a pretty turbulent journey since 2020, from some deeply challenging personal times through to the natural disasters of 2025!
We’ve made the decision that Brighton Oysters won’t be returning for the 2026 season.

This hasn’t been an easy call. We gave it everything, but without securing the grant funding needed to keep things moving forward, it’s time for us to pause, take a breath, and regroup.

The good news? We’ve still got babies growing. Over the next 12 months, our focus will be on family, raising those little ones, repairing our accommodation, and giving ourselves the time and space to rest and reset.

We'll be back with plenty more oysters to share 🦪💪🏻

Thank you for sticking with us through the highs and lows, it truly means the world.

What The Actual F**k Tara Moriarty MLC

While here on The Manning River we are forced to walk away from our business Brighton Oysters, which I know you know well Tara as you came to our farm and were quite adamant the disaster relief funding needed to be tailored to Aquaculture as we are such a unique industry. Guess it's a win win for you & your team, not sharing the relief funding appropriately and now we will be unable to apply for this.
Such a public facade you put forward.
From one successful woman to another you disappoint me! We should be fixing each other's crowns instead you choose to turn your back on me.
While I welcome this funding for an industry that screams to be heard your lack of action really shows your agenda.

🛟 COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT 🛟

This isn’t an easy post for us to write.

As many of you know, the flood in May didn’t just wash through our farm, it washed through our lives. We’ve spent the months since, trying to rebuild, regroup, and keep our dream afloat.
The truth is, the impact is bigger than we could have imagined. Our stock has been heavily affected, and we’ve had to step back into other work just to support ourselves and keep the business alive.

🎅🏻 Because of this, we won’t have oysters or prawns available for Christmas this year 🎅🏻

We will however do some random pop ups when we have the capacity to do so.

Stay tuned to this page for updates over the summer period.

Right now, we’re nurturing a new generation of oysters caught earlier this year. They’re tiny, fragile, and full of hope — but they need time.

This journey has been incredibly hard, but your kindness, patience, and support have meant everything to us.

Thank you for standing by us through the toughest chapter we’ve faced.

We’re not giving up — just taking the time we need to grow again.
