Sri Lankan road side food stalls are epic.
This is called Buffalo Kiri Paeni .
This home made buffalo curd is smooth, tangy and sublime, honestly I haven’t tried anything like this in Australia. Natural yogurt would be the closest but this richer.
We stopped in Kanthale and the lady serving us was proud as punch. You can find it at the roadsides.
Poured on top is the magic - Kithul treacle, smoky, caramel treacle from Sri Lankan palm trees.
Perfectly balanced served cold in the traditional clay pots. Timeless ♥️ 🇱🇰

Featured by ABC News as part of this year’s Tasting Australia 2026 program 🌿✨

Twilight in the Quinces, created alongside Singing Magpie Produce, was everything we love about the Riverland — local produce, regional stories, incredible people and a little bit of weather chaos bringing everyone even closer together.

Set amongst the quinces and fig trees, guests spent the afternoon enjoying Riverland-inspired food, local drinks and the kind of atmosphere you can’t manufacture.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped showcase what regional South Australia does best 💛

You know you can dream about the potential of events and experiences but yesterday our Twilight in the Quinces event was so much more. What a collaboration between and Singing Magpie Produce on our Heward Family Orchard in Monash. 50 people- Riverlanders and people from Adelaide, Mount Gambier, Inverloch, Mildura and across Australia made the trek to our orchard. Even 65mm of rain (very rare event for the Riverland in May) didn’t deter people to come laugh, eat and join with us in celebrating the uniqueness, resilience, passion and potential that the Riverland holds in its produce.
I’m extremely proud and so glad that Dad & Mum were able to participate. Dad and Rob got to show off the newly renovated tractor. This was my Poppa Jack’s first tractor and one of the original tractors in town back in the 1940’s.
Full shoutout to .cresp Megan, Kylie, Jak, Benui for sensational food and service. Anthony is like my partner in crime dreaming up opportunities to tell a story of what our region has to offer, if people are brave enough to venture longer than 2 hours from the city boundaries. To Mel always the most considered MC, for our Welcome to Country, Dave and Heidi for showcasing their jujube spritzer.
from first visited our orchard 10 yrs ago. I’m completely in debt to her for making the trek from Sydney and leading our QA session. The opportunity to talk about how special the regions produce is, and asking people to think about what we grow as food for the table rather than a commodity, is one we rarely get to explore.
As always Tina and Sarah, Mark and Frankie the Singing Magpie team stayed to the end (and to our newest team member Rhiannon who worked all day Friday installing solar lights and decorating the marquee) to made sure everything was totally perfect.
This Sunday morning my cup is very full. Please enjoy these first photos from the uber talented local photographer

Honestly if we weren’t Fig and Quince producers I think we would grow tomatoes. It’s a Heward thing to grow our own tomatoes and this year my brother Bryan has definitely taken out the trophy for these most phenomenal last season heritage and oxhearts.
Out of this world and 2 hours of my day today that I will cherish for a long time ###

How do people get through all the jobs and actually leave the farm. I’m trying to get better at it because there is a small matter of a holiday next week.
But in the meantime there is a lot of jobs. Monday morning was:
🍇 Walking the figs and grapes today, we will be prepping for this week as long as the rain holds off 😬
🍋 Watching the Master aka Dad load the truck full of our quinces for Singing Magpie Produce. These are quinces we sun dry in 2026.
🍫 Look at the temper on the latest chocolate enrobed fruit… coming to and this weeks giftboxes.
