Important "Duck-date" from the orchard.💚
Darling duckies have being doing their thing a little too well and seem to be excavating under the raised raspberry beds. In order to mitigate this and further soil loss, I've popped in some anti-beak digging mesh on the down side of the beds. Fingers crossed it works🦆
In another experiment, I've added compost and mulch to one of the trees to see what the ducks do to it. I'll be doing this to all the trees soon, but this first step will tell me whether or not I need to put protection around the mulch to stop duck demo.
The gang seemed quite relaxed with my presence today, which is lovely 🦆💚

Hiya Folks! I just wanted to let you know that there are only a handful of places left for my upcoming course, ‘Growing Veggies Organically & Sustainably’ for Belgrave Food Garden.
Below is the course description and the link to book if you’d like to join us for my last course in the Hills 🌱🪴🍅
This is the 7th (I think) time I’ve run it and have enjoyed every second, meeting every person and making new connections 🥰

This Permaculture based course will be in Belgrave and will consist of four 3 hour workshops + two additional tours (optional).

Facilitated by Jane Coleman from Earth & Soul Permaculture.
As a Permaculture designer and organic gardener with 6+ years experience, with a Sustainable Living diploma, I’ll be sharing knowledge and resources to help you grow veggies organically and sustainably.

Included in this course will be two tours of local permaculture properties, already growing food organically and sustainably.
It’ll be lots of fun, enjoy sharing stories and knowledge with likeminded people.

- PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF DATES and TIMES-

August 23rd 10am-1pm
Growing from Seed + Seasonal Planting:
You will be planting seeds, learning and talking about seed saving, heirloom seed plus what to grow and when, succession planting.

September 20th 10am-1pm
Soils, Composting + Crop Rotation:
We will talk about soils, manures, composting and build a hot compost pile together as a group.
Crop Rotation - Organic growing depends on healthy soils/eco system and diversity.

October 18th 10am-1pm
Raising Seedlings and Planting out:
How to care for your seedlings, when to ‘pot on’, when to plant out.

Organic growing without using nasty sprays. This workshop is all about biodiversity, ecosystems plus heaps more, we touch on our journey through the course.
