Hampton Park Joey Scout Unit

What a great night for a walk! Despite being a little cool, it was a very pleasant outing. While some of the younger Joeys found it a bit challenging, they all kept going and - with a little bit of a short cut - completed 4 kms. We covered some of the requirements for Bushwalking Stage 1, talked about compass directions and looked at the compasses, talked about some of the wildlife in the swamp area - lots of frogs- and had lots of fun shining our torches!! Well done Joeys, families and the Joey team

This week at Joeys, we had to feel a variety of foods and guess what they were sight unseen - the banana was easy but the parsnip was a bit trickier - and then the Joeys got to taste some selected foods. The Wednesday Joeys could choose which to taste but the very brave Friday Joeys did this blindfolded and had lots of fun guessing what they were tasting - some of the selection were lychees, freeze dried strawberries and radishes.
Both groups started the night with a song and a game, followed by our food experiences and the Wednesday group finished up with a chat about the Bushwalking Stage 1 requirements and Croc showed them some trail signs and had them practice making and reading the signs.

Ready for Term 3? We're looking forward to a fun and yummy time ahead. Here is our term planner for a run down of what to expect. We still have vacancies for our Wednesday night session for anyone who would like to come down for free trials.

Now that Term 2 has finished, we hope that all of the Joeys enjoy their holidays and recharge ready for Term 3! Some of our Joeys will be completing their SIA projects over the break and we will be very excited to see them when they return in a couple of weeks.

We still have several vacancies available for Wednesday trials and one for a Friday trial, so get in touch if you would like to come and see what we do.

On Saturday we had our group linking ceremony and social bowling for all sections at Hampton Park. Despite being cold and wet outside, we had lots of fun inside. It was a bit tricky for some of our littlest Joeys but they didn't give up!

Our weekend camp at Manjedal with the cubs,was a great success despite being quite cold. We went on a night hike, attempted the Blind Trail, competed in the Challenge Zone, made some craft, had songs around the campfire, had a scavenger hunt for dragon eggs, ate lots and generally enjoyed each other’s company. Looking forward to the next time!
