Downunder Farmstays

Downunder Farmstays Downunder Farmstays will organise your stay on an Australian Farm whether you are travelling with a Farm activities are varied and differ in each region.

Farmstays are a rewarding cultural experience creating unforgettable memories and lasting friendships. Stay with a real Australian family, ‘on the land’, joining in daily tasks and special seasonal farm activities. Enjoy delicious home–cooked meals, in the warm and friendly family atmosphere, typical of Aussie hospitality. Often you can collect the eggs to have them cooked for your breakfast, or v

egetables to eat them fresh with your meal. There are so many experiences to enjoy on a farm, with memories of a lifetime. You cannot believe how many stars you can see in the Australian countryside at night. You won’t forget seeing ‘The Southern Cross’ and ‘The Milky Way’. At sunrise and sunset you can often see the wild kangaroos on farm properties feeding. Some farms even have tennis courts, swimming pools, table tennis tables, billiard tables and dams for yabbying or fishing. Have your farmstay arranged by us, with a farm family ready to meet and greet you, show you the local sights, provide quality ‘hearty’ meals and share their country living experiences with you. Your farmstay will include breakfasts, lunches and dinners and various farm activities with the farm family. Please select either Melbourne or Cairns to view a more detailed outline of farm activities that are offered. Downunder Farmstays only provides quality accommodation for the free independent traveller, student groups small and large and family groups. The farm families are experienced hosts and enjoy sharing and educating their visitors about farming life. Two or three nights is the ideal farmstay package to allow time to experience the various activities.

One of the things our host families love most about welcoming students is seeing how enthusiastically they embrace new experiences and the special connections they form with the animals, especially horses. 🐴

Horses are incredibly intelligent and sensitive animals that respond well to patience, confidence, and a gentle approach. For many of our students, these interactions are a completely new experience and often become one of the highlights of their Downunder Farmstay adventure.

We're currently looking for more host families to share their way of life with upcoming student groups arriving over the next few months. Most stays are just two nights, making it a rewarding way to meet young people from around the world while earning some additional income.

We are particularly seeking hosts within a 1.5-hour drive of:

📍 Windsor, NSW
📍 Bowral, NSW
📍 Beaudesert, QLD

We'd also love to hear from you if you're within 1.5 hours of:

📍 Atherton, QLD
📍 Kyneton, VIC

At Downunder Farmstays, we love welcoming guests from all around the world and helping them create unforgettable memories on Australian farms. 🐑🌿

Today we're throwing back to when Dan and Mayumi stayed with Bob and Shirley at their beautiful farmstay in country Victoria.

Here's what they had to say:

"We only stayed the one night at Bob & Shirley’s farmstay, but it was easily one of the highlights of our road trip through country Victoria. They are consummate hosts with a passion for providing a quality experience for their guests. We loved ALL of the farm animals and their dear little puppy, Jen, but the star of the show was undoubtedly Crystal, the white alpaca 🦙, what a gorgeous girl! Bob’s vintage car ride was also a highlight, as was the wood fireplace in the cosy guest living room. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer. We’ll be back!"

Experiences like these are what Downunder Farmstays is all about ❤️
