This is the official account of Carlsberg Australia. Carlsberg was born in Denmark in 1847, thanks to J.C Jacobsen, who brewed Denmark's first ever beer using a yeast that became the basis for many modern-day imitations. In fact, almost all modern-day lagers are derived from the original yeast used to brew Carlsberg, Saccharomyces Carlsbergensis. Jacobsen named the brew after his son (Carl) and th

e Danish word for hill (berg), after the hill on which the brewery sits. Carlsberg is now a regular in millions of bars across 140 countries worldwide (now that calls for a Carlsberg!). The four elephants in the iconic Elephant Gate look so peaceful 🐘🇩🇰

They have certain characteristics, for example their trunks are far too long compared to their biological trunks, and they also have a few too many toes. Count for yourself next time you pass by 👣

Swipe to see the Elephant Gate in the making!

Our most beloved colleagues 🐴💚

Our four-legged ambassadors have been carting beer along the streets of Copenhagen for the past 176 years.

Back when our famous Carlsberg brewery was founded in 1847, we relied heavily upon the 300 horses we kept in our stables to distribute beer across Denmark 🇩🇰🍻

Cheers to the weekend 🍻

Have you had the chance to check out our amazing Elephant Gate in Denmark? It’s quite a sight! 🐘

The four granite elephants were put up in 1901 by the talented architect Vilhelm Dahlerup, and together, they support the old water tower used by the nearby New Carlsberg Brewhouse.

The gate was a project of brewer Carl Jacobsen and each of the four elephants represents one of his four surviving children: Theodora, Vagn, Helge, and Paula ❤️

Today, the gate remains just as impressive and captivating every time you stroll by the large stone animals.
