Barossa Farm Christmas Pudding

Barossa Farm Christmas Pudding Handmade, suet based, Christmas pudding made in the Barossa Valley from Barossan and South Australian ingredients. Magnifique!

Besides breeding beef cattle, Barossa Farm also produces traditional, boiled Christmas Puddings. For many years, like so many who come from homes where cooking and enjoying food together as a family was encouraged, Jane has either assisted in making the family's Christmas pudding or made it herself. Her generous portions of brandy to make brandy butter as a child are the stuff of family legend! We

had a number of friends who kept asking her to make a 'old style' Christmas pudding for them and so our little pudding business has grown and grown! So whilst we've been making Christmas puddings for others for only six years with the very best of Barossan ingredients, the recipe itself is an old family one from Scotland. Each pudding is hand made by us, the Maul family. It's a true family affair with everyone involved in making sure the final product reaches 'it's final destination' in first class condition. Our story of family pudding making has even been featured on ABC's Television's programme, "The Spirit of Christmas". Plus features in Sumptutious, Australian Gourmet Traveller, Maddison and SALife. Made from quality ingredients, predominantly sourced from the Barossa and regional South Australia, these Christmas puddings are boiled and cured so as to remain rich, firm and succulent. Unlike other cheaper recipes, ours is suet based and contains no nuts. Cheaper puddings, particularly commercially made puddings use everything from vegetable oil as their binding agent and nut offal. These cheap fillers mask the beautiful fruity flavour of a traditional pudding. Whilst we sell most of our Christmas puddings within the Barossa, we ship throughout Australia and in previous years, shipped a large order to France. Orders for these delicious Christmas puddings can be placed via our online store or email or telephoning us direct on 618 8524 4662 up until 1pm on the 14th December 2012. Or visit us at the Barossa Farmers Market closer to Christmas. The long and tedious process to create these wonderful puddings starts with the mixing of many different Barossan and South Australian ingredients. Laucke's flour, four crown Riverland dried vine fruits, Barossa brandy, and Coopers extra stout are just some of the premium ingredients that go into these wonderful puddings. More importantly, its the things that we don't put in our puddings that makes them so special. You won't find any nuts or any peel. These are just some of the cheap fillers that you will find in commercially produced puddings of an inferior quality.

Following on from my post on Oct 3rd, I received such an amazing response from my customers at the Barossa Farmers Market, that I want to say that my days of making puddings are not over!

I have decided to ‘Make puddings to order’ from next year. I will post on here when I am making puddings and people can let me know the size or sizes they want.

They will be made at home using the same recipe and ingredients as before. I’ll be looking at making them around August time.

I am sorry for those people who wanted a pudding this year who have missed out and look forward to letting you know when I am back in ‘ Pudding making mode’ in 2026.

After twenty years of making puddings, I’m sad to say that for the time being my pudding making days are over.

Tomorrow I will be attending the Barossa Farmers Market for the only market this year. I am selling the very few left over from last year. Anyone who knows anything about Traditional Christmas puddings know they get better with age. Trust me, it’s true.

If you would like a pudding then come and see me at the market tomorrow or send me a text with your details on 0412 173 060. I only have 0.5 kg, 1.5kg and 2kg left ( and very few of the latter two ) I have no Vegan or Vegetarian puddings left.

Thank you to all my wonderful loyal customers for all your support over the years. I’ll miss all the chats and laughter we have shared. 🙏

Happy Anniversary to us 🤣🤣🤣

2024 is our 20th year of making puddings and this year I have increased production from 750 kgs to 1 tonne!

This year I have also included a Vegan pudding. I was a bit sceptical about how they would turn out ( I thought I might have to bin them) but I was pleasantly surprised because they are fabulous.

If anyone wants a Gluten free this year, order soon as I have limited stocks and I always sell out.

Our apologies to those who tried to order puddings online in the past 24 hours but couldn’t. The site is active again and pudding orders are being successfully transacted. Cheers
