Each year, I find balloon bits in our paddocks here at Mount Crawford and caught a bull calf having a ‘snack’ on this one. We must be on an Adelaide flight path. And as you may know, they don’t come out the other end. Which means they take up a space in a cow’s stomach. It might seem lovely to let them go but what goes up must come down! And cattle aren’t always the most sensible of creatures. Please don’t let them go!

Recently, our local grazing group, Barossa Improved Grazing Group released the findings of a three year study on the cost benefit analysis of ewe containment feeding, supported generously by Meat & Livestock Australia through their PDS project programme. It's with great sadness that we have just found out that our vet, Dario Mendoza has passed away. Dario had been battling leukemia for some time and in true Dario style, fought it valiantly. An exceptionally private man, he was not one to share the battle. Dario was beyond just being an exceptional cattle vet who made an enormous difference to our business but one of the good guys who's company we always enjoyed. Vale Dario.
