Another tasty product from the Riverland, Cara Cara oranges are a type of navel orange with distinctive pinkish-red flesh. Despite their colour, they’re not grapefruit hybrids—they’re a natural mutation of the standard navel orange.
They’re sweet, less acidic than regular navel oranges, with hints of berry, cherry, or raspberry.
Being a Winter fruit they’re at their best now, you can eat them fresh, add them to salads, juice them, or use them in desserts. Many people find them sweeter and more complex in flavour than standard navel oranges.
