TDM Free Range Farms is a family run, fully accredited Free Range Berkshire pig farm located in Mt Pleasant and Cambrai, SA using sustainable farming practices. We chose the Heritage Berkshire Breed, (with a bit of crossing) - well known for outdoor hardiness, good mothering skills, marbled meat and exceptional taste. Our piglet
s are not tail docked or teeth clipped. Our sows have access to shelters, paddocks, wallows and a herd. During farrowing the sows have their own access hut and paddock. Our breeders are naturally mated with live in boars. They graze, dig, play, explore, lie in the sun, roll in the mud, protect and mother their piglets. We avoid using sprays and artificial fertilizers by using the pigs themselves at the correct stocking rates to eat down the weeds and provide fertilizer for the next paddock rotation. Soil is sampled every 2 years to keep nutrients in the correct balance. Forage crops are planted to assist keeping nitrogen and other minerals at optimum levels. Feeding areas, drinkers, wallows and shelters are moved frequently to assist even nutrient dispersal. Together with the responsible farming practices and high quality taste of our Berkshire pork we feel we have an excellent product to offer and hope you enjoy eating it as much as we have enjoyed raising it!
