Whenever I find a hump of dirt like this in the bush I know not to hang around. In this case, I had to hammer a few staples into the post and was gone before too many came swarming out!

starts with grazing control, and that means effective fencing. Checking electric voltages and keeping on top of maintenance is integral to training livestock to respect fences, and therefore stress free farming.
There is a myth that gum trees shouldn't be planted near fences. I see so many examples of where trees planted deep in the plantation do more damage to fences (with all their foliage) than one right next to the fence where branches often fall into the paddock. Either way, it's easy fixed and we learn to live with trees. Properties are much better for them than without.

One lap of the paddock completed with the chicken tractor, and where they were is definitely greener than the surrounding pasture. Not only are the chooks introducting nitrogen, but they gently disturb the soil surface, digging holes and turning over mulch, which hastens the composting cycle. They will go on new ground next lap.
