Parmi Patrol have been rating chicken parmigianas since 2012. We appreciate recommendations but don? The safe option. All hail the Parmigiana.

The Holy Grail on pub menu's throughout Australia, the Chicken Parmigiana. Sometimes you don't even need to pick the menu up to know what you're ordering. When the other meals look like they won't cut it, go the Parmi.

Buffalo Hotel - Myrtleford VIC

Cost: $25.90
Sides: Chips & Salad

Pros: This was a great size parmi and the taste was what you would expect. Nothing special, nothing bad, just typical really. Chips were really great, and not served under the parmi. Vegies were cooked really well (yes, I'm aware there are vegies on this plate and not salad - see cons)

Cons: Couldn't swap out the salad for vegies, had to pay an extra $5.90, which I was none too happy about. This was a cold night, and salad just didn't seem right to be eating a hearty meal.

Score: 7.5/10

Hotel Nicholas - Beechworth (VIC)

Cost: $29
Sides: chips and salad

Pros: Meal size was good. The parmi did taste good, it was enjoyable. Thick chicken schnitzel with nice Napoli, ham and golden cheese topping. Chips were nice & crunchy, but maybe could have been more on the plate considering the price. Salad was actually alright with a tasty dressing.

Cons: I know costs have gone up but $29 is wrong. The chicken was difficult to cut through and even though it didn’t take much to move it still sat over some chips. It would have cost an extra $6 for vegies to replace the salad.

All Seasons - Bendigo

Price: $28

Pros: salad?

Cons: everything........

There's a lot to be said when the best thing o the plate is the salad, and a pretty pov one at that. Seriously, this is the worst parmi I've ever had! Chips were awful, and no amount of salt could compensate. The parmi itself was chewy, overcooked, with a slab of ham, some unseasoned tomato paste, and some mozzarella.
I'm sorry, I can't give a score out of ten, it's unscorable. But if you're up to waste money on an overpriced parmi, consider this a challenge, and rate for yourself!
Side note: no one at the table who ordered the parmi finished it.

Barmah Hotel - Barmah (VIC)

Price: $27
Sides: chips & salad

Italian Parmi

Pros: huge parmi, tasty topping including olives, capsicum and salami if that’s your taste. Nice crunchy chips. Big meal.

Cons: Parmi sloppy to cut through, salad wasn’t anything special.

Noble Monks - Shepparton (VIC)

Price: $27
Sides: chips & salad

Pros: nice thick chicken with tasty Napoli sauce and ham, not a bad size, easy to cut through, great crunchy chips. Good size meal overall.

Cons: could use a few more chips, some hidden under the parmi. Salad was very leafy with a lot of onion. Still don’t agree with the price for a Parmi.

Hotel Queanbeyan - NSW
Price $ 25

Made the trip to Canberra and called into hotel Queanbeyan for a quick parmi and it did not disappoint.

Pros : it’s not for everyone , but I quite liked the burnt crunchy edges around the outside. I tried with and without gravy, and it was quite nice with the gravy on. I know it doesn’t look like much but this was really an enjoyable meal.
Chips were amazing too

Cons : we don’t like the chips under the parmi, but the plate wasn’t big enough , just an average salad which was neither here nor there.

The meal is not massive , but overall the price matches what you get.

The Overlander - Shepparton (VIC)

Price: $20 on Parmi night (Wed)
Sides: chips & veg

Pros: amazing price but only on parmi night, good size parmi with a solid topping, nice clean cut through chicken, crispy chips. Good size meal.

Cons: found it odd that corn chips were standing upright on the topping so some had to be eaten separately. Oversized vegies.

Bundalong Tavern - Bundalong (VIC)

Price: $28
Sides: chips & salad

This was an ok parmi. It is a reasonable size and the topping was fairly good. Though it didn’t really give a nice clean cut through. The chips were pretty good and the salad had a dressing but not much variety of ingredients. Still don’t enjoy paying this amount for a parmi.

Moyhu Hotel - Vic

Price : $27

Thought we’d take a drive through the wine country and stoped in at the Moyhu hotel and sampled a parmi !

Pros : Another meal where the chips weren’t under the parmi which was a great site. Great serving of chips, and the salad had a nice touch of feta cheese. The parmi was nicely cooked and a great size, when cut it was nice and juicy.

Cons: not many cons, overall it was a great parmi, and would recommend calling in and supporting the Moyhu pub.
