I made this today for a friend's 6 month old granddaughter. I upcycled the fabric. It was originally a doona cover. Making up a new pattern for the first time is always a bit of a challenge for me. On this occasion I struggled with the button holes 🙆🏼‍♂️. I got there though. Pretty happy with the result, though I'd forgotten clothes could be this small ❤️.

I asked my friend's son what he'd like for his birthday. His response? A chocolate, caramel layer cake. I came up with a Death by Chocolate Caramel Cake. 3 layers of chocolate cake, sandwiched with salted caramel butter cream, with a drizzle of salted caramel on top of each layer of butter cream. Finished off with butter cream, a generous drizzle of salted caramel and sprinkled with chopped peanuts and chocolate.

My Gramma Pie!

The pastry's a bit rough as I was in a hurry, made it in the food processor, and over-worked it. It was a bit hard to roll out 🤦🏼‍♂️.

Nevermind though, I present to you my 'Rustic' Gramma Pie! My husband said it's yummy, tasty, has that hint of bitterness (from the lemon juice) and isn't too sweet 😁

Today I made Dukkah (an Egyptian spiced seed and nut mixture). I love it sprinkled over poached eggs on avocado toast 😁.

I looked at buying some, but what is available locally at the supermarket was sooo expensive 😱🙆🏼‍♂️. The ingredients in my dukkah are, toasted hazelnuts, sesame seeds, coriander seeds, and cu**in seeds. The sesame, coriander and cumin seeds are toasted, then blended with the hazelnuts until finely chopped ❤️.

I have to say, I'm a little bit proud of this. It's a Black Forest Cake I made for a friend of ours. I've made him a few over the years, but I think this is the best one yet. The recipe is from the amazing Nagi at RecipeTin. The 'missing' piece is for my husband.
