When visiting my daughter in Victoria recently I bought a biscuit from a bakery in the Gippsland region. It was two biscuits sandwiched with jam. It was topped with an icing glaze and decorated with smarties. Such a simple combination, but one of the best things I've ever eaten.

Today I attempted my own version. I've only eaten one (so far) and it took me straight back to my first bite of that biscuit purchased from a Gippsland bakery ❀️

Today I bottled 74 jars of pickles. Total weight of chokos pickled so far is 75kg. I'm about 1/2 way there, but don't know that I have access to another 75g of chokosπŸ€·πŸ™†πŸ€¦

I've been making caramel popcorn lately for birthday gifts. This stuff is soooo good. I did get molten caramel on my hand at one point. That wasn't so good.

I had a busy couple of weeks so pickle making has been on the back burner. I've dedicated the weekend to pickle making. Today I cut up chokos and listened to 'Explosive Hits' from 1974 😁

First Pickles of the season. The situation was getting dire as the vine fruited late and the chokos have been slow to grow. I'm feeling much less stressed now. These are so fresh off the stove top the bottles are still too hot to hold 😁

Yesterday I baked. A friend of mine asked me to make a Burnt Basque Cheesecake. Apparently they are all the rage in Sydney cafes at the moment. It's supposed to look burnt, and supposed to sink in the middle. It remains to be seen what my friend thinks of it. While I had the oven on I thought I'd do some other baking as well. I had some rhubarb in the freezer so made a rhubarb and apple pie. I also had a go at making a GF caramel slice. I'll be receiving feedback on that from my GF tasting team 😁.

The first choko of the season. I think you'll agree that it's 'practically perfect in every way'. ❀️

Great News Pickle Lovers! The pickles you're eating are officially 'Award Winning' 😁πŸ₯‡. I entered our pickles in this year's Upper Hunter Show Exhibition Pavilion and won first place for both pickle varieties. This was very exciting. I also won first place for my Chilli Jam, and Fudge. I won second place for my Lime and Ginger Marmalade, Caramel Slice, and a selection of 2 biscuits - chocolate and cornflake biscuits.

I'm already planning for next year and will remember to register my entries in the name of 'Princess Cherly's Choko Pickles', and add the name of my Chilli Choko Pickles to the 'any other variety of pickle' registration 🀦😁

The last of my (misshapen) arancini balls. I had them in the freezer. I'm glad I took up the challenge and made them, but don't think I'll make them again just because I can. Perhaps for a special occasion? I'll tick 'make arancini balls' off my bucket list and move on to the next challenge πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.
