Lawrence's Irrigation

Lawrence's Irrigation A Naracoorte family owned pumping & irrigation business specialising in domestic, rural & vineyard pumping & irrigation with an extensive retail shopfront.

We opened our business for the first time on 6th September 2010. All directors had extensive experience in the industry & realised there was an opening in Naracoorte & surrounds to provide reliable sales & service to an established industry.

Like all Easters, we will be closed this Easter Saturday. This is something we do as it is tough to roster someone on for 3-hours & disrupt their 4-days. Our crew have had a massive summer & they deserve a few days off. In saying that, if you have any dire issues, please call the shop & you will be diverted to a message service. Leave a message, & we'll get back to you.....

The current war in Iran is affecting some of the products we purchase, in particular poly & PVC pipe. We have been informed by many suppliers poly pipe will increase by 36% & PVC pipe around 30%. Fittings will increase too. Rest assured, our prices will only increase if we need to purchase pipe at the moment at the increased price. Currently we have pipe in stock & the price of this pipe is exactly the same as it was before this mess started. At present, we can't get hold of poly pipe for 6+ weeks, even if we wanted to. Our suggestion is if you require pipe to look around & see who has it in stock. On a side-note, dripline in vineyards has also increased 10-12%.

This extreme heat plays funny games. The hose in this photo is quality Australian-made hose (why sell anything else). This is suction hose, designed not to go flat when "sucking" water through it. The sheer heat has warmed the water making the hose very pliable, so when the pump started it sucked flat. How do you get around this? Keep the pipe in the shade where possible or purchase rubber hose with a wire band through it. If cold water continues to pass through the pipe, it should not be a concern. Is this warranty? No, it's not a manufacturer fault.

If you follow us you will realise last year we began to sell pivots. For several years people kept asking us & eventually we gave in. It started off slowly with a few services, but it has really kicked-off now. We are about to start our third pivot within less than three months. This 9-span Irrico machine was delivered to site yesterday at Frances & our team will make a start on it in the coming days. Another build to follow immediately afterwards at Burrungule, near Mt. Gambier which also includes a brand new pump station.

ELECTRICIAN WANTED - Due to us expanding into pivots, which by the way are going nuts, this has seen us need to employ another electrician. This electrician will not just be doing pivots, but will share all aspects of the job with their sparky colleagues. Currently we already have two qualified electricians & a very able (mature age) 2nd year apprentice. If you are an electrician who is sick of installing power outlets, ceiling fans, solar panels, wiring houses & generally just crawling around inside roofs, than give us a call. An electrician in the irrigation industry is like doing two trades. You will become experienced in automation, hydraulics, pumps, variable-frequency drives & gensets just to name a few things. It's the start of a new year, so why not change things up a bit? If interested, please give Mick Derrington a call on 0419 120 983 or email: [email protected]. Don't worry either, we respect your privacy & can talk under the cover of darkness.... PLEASE SHARE

Unlike many stores choosing to close tomorrow (Wednesday) we choose to open longer. We will be open from 5am - 5.30pm. We have great air conditioning & an esky full of cold drinks at no cost to quench your thirst! Maybe if you're in a cool place with a refreshing icy cold drink, you may spend a few more $$....

This year in the peak of summer, like every summer we are having many people call us to repair solar pumps which have failed. The majority of these pumps are budget pumps purchased often on-line or from part-time installers where pumps are just a sideline. These type of pumps often come unstuck when they are tested the most, in our hot summers. There are five things you need to consider when purchasing a solar pump:

1) Where are they made? European is best.
2) Why are they sending spares with the pump? Because it is prone to failure.
3) Can I source replacement parts easily & fast?
4) If my pump fails, will my local pump company be able to service it knowing that I maybe did not purchase it from them?
5) What back-up do I have when my budget pump fails in peak times?

We only sell quality Italian-made solar pumps & we carry spares. All our solar pumps are installed by fully qualified electricians & done to a high standard. Our pumps are not just "one size fits all", they are selected for each individual site.

The quote below is well worth considering when purchasing solar pumps (or anything else for that matter):

Have you made your New Year's resolution yet? We'll, here's one to consider. We are looking for an experienced sales person to replace a long term retiring member of our team. If you have ag experience, maybe a merch manager at one of the big ag companies, maybe an agronomist, maybe a vineyard manager. We want to hear from you! This is a very advanced role, but if you are a long-term local who knows our region & the ag industry, you already tick many boxes. If this person is you or you know of a person who you think this would interest, have them give Mick a call here at Lawrence's Irrigation - 0419 120 983

Every Christmas eve we emphasise to our staff the importance of buying local. We give each staff member $100 cash & right there & then they must spend that money at a locally owned business & bring back the receipt. It is always important to support locally owned businesses first & foremost. Their profits stay in town & aren't shipped off interstate or worse still overseas. So support the Mum & Dad businesses in your local town whenever you can.... Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

Please note our trading hours for the festive season. So many people ask us if we close down over Christmas, but why would any Pumping & Irrigation business close over peak of summer in the busiest time of the year....madness! For that reason, we only close on public holidays, the Saturday immediately after Christmas & Sundays. Yes, we will only have skeleton staff, as our crew has been working massive hours to keep water to stocks & crops in recent weeks, so they deserve a bit of a rest. For dire, urgent assistance over this period of closed days, please call the shop on 0887 623166 & leave a message. No message = no return call.
