Fort Cooper Pastoral - NOW HIRING - Head Stockman, Station Hand & Station Cook
Due to our exciting expansion into a Wagyu breeding program, Fort Cooper Pastoral is seeking experienced and dedicated individuals to join our team across several key roles. These are long-term positions based at Fort Cooper Station, with work extending across our four properties.
Why Now?
After 30 years of outstanding service, our Head Stockman is retiring, and we’re entering a new chapter with our Wagyu herd. These are not seasonal roles, we are looking for people who want to become part of our long-term story and future.

POSITION: Head Stockman
Experience: Extensive, with proven leadership, excellent people management skills with the ability to teach and guide teams. Head Stockman works independently, with business direction led by the owner and planning delivered collaboratively as a team.
Skills:
• Excellent horsemanship and cattle handling
• Mustering coordination across multiple properties
• AI & embryo (vet-assisted) experience preferred, not essential as training will be provided
• Machinery use (tractors, dozers, graders, bobcats)
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Management of day to day operations relating to Fort Cooper
• Ability to execute projects efficiently

POSITION: Station Hand
Experience: Minimum 3 years in the cattle industry
Skills:
• Competent in all areas of mustering and station operations
• Strong horsemanship
• Machinery and equipment use
• AI & embryo program support

POSITION: Station Cook
Experience: Previous Cooking Experience preferred but not essential.
Responsibilities:
• Preparing breakfast, smoko, lunch & dinner for 6-10 people
• Maintaining kitchen standards and cleanliness
• Cleaning shared homestead areas and one additional house
• This is a key position supporting station morale and performance so a passion for cooking and comradery are vital
