Two years.
I've been trying to write this post for days, and every version sounded... wrong.
How do you fit two years of your life into a Facebook post?
Tropical Tide has been one of the hardest things I've ever done. It's also been one of the best.
There have been mornings where I've watched the sunrise thinking, "I've actually done it." And there have been afternoons where I've sat in the truck wondering if I had anything left in me.
People see the coffee, the food, the pretty location. They don't see the flat tyres, the breakdowns, the last-minute disasters, the weather, the paperwork, the stress, or the million little problems that somehow appear every single week.
The funny thing is... every time something went wrong, someone appeared.
Someone helped fix the truck.
Someone pumped up a tyre.
Someone fixed something.
Someone kept an eye on the truck while I couldn't.
Someone gave me advice.
Someone stayed to help pack and unpack.
Someone bought a coffee they probably didn't even need because they wanted to support me.
I don't think Tropical Tide has ever really been just my business.
It belongs a little bit to everyone who's stopped, helped, supported, encouraged, recommended me, or simply kept coming back.
You probably think it was "just a small favour."
To me, it was another reason I could open again the next day ❤️
Then there's Roo 🥰
I honestly don't know where I'd be without him.
He walked into my life without asking for anything, and somehow ended up carrying so much of this dream with me.
He has solved problems before I even knew they existed, listened to me when I was ready to give up, and somehow managed to put up with me through all the chaos.
But more than helping the truck... he helped me.
He gave me confidence when I'd lost it and gave me peace when my head was too loud.
He reminded me that it's okay to stop, breathe and keep going tomorrow.
I'm not just grateful for everything he has done for Tropical Tide, I'm grateful because he has helped me become a happier, calmer and stronger version of myself ❤️
Two years ago I thought I was building a food truck.
Turns out, it was the people around it that were building me.
So... thank you
EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU.
You didn't just support a small business.
You changed someone's life.
Happy 2nd birthday, Tropical Tide. 🌴💙
