Great day out for last show of the season !! Big thanks to the committee, judges, volunteers and other exhibitors at Hunter Valley Bantam Show.
Ruth and I were just support crew, drivers, holders and helpers. Theo put 9 Australian Call Ducks in with 5 in the junior and 4 the the open.

Theo walked away smile on their face and lots of cards but couldn’t be happier with these:

A New Look. The Same Passion.

Over the past few years, what started as a hobby has grown into a genuine passion for breeding and exhibiting quality poultry. As we’ve learned, met incredible breeders, and received invaluable feedback from judges across the show circuit, it’s become clear where we want to focus our efforts.

So we’re excited to introduce our new look…

🐓 Sticky Beaks & Bills - Larkin Family Poultry 🦆

Our goal is simple: rather than breeding a little of everything, we want to concentrate on a select number of breeds and continually improve them to produce exhibition-quality birds that we’re proud to exhibit and share with others.

Each of us has found the breeds we’re most passionate about:

🐔 Ruth will be concentrating on Blue, Black and Splash Orpingtons, with the aim of breeding large, true-to-standard birds with outstanding type and quality.

🦆 Theo has enjoyed great success exhibiting both chickens and ducks over the past few years, but for the 2026 breeding season Theo’s chosen to focus on Australian Call Ducks, with dedicated breeding pens for Apricot and Silver.

🦆 Amie will be pursuing her passion for one of Australia’s rarer exhibition waterfowl breeds—the Cayuga Duck.

This show season has been invaluable. We’ve deliberately taken our birds to as many shows as possible, not just to compete, but to learn. The feedback and encouragement we’ve received from some fantastic judges and experienced breeders has been instrumental in shaping our breeding program for the season ahead.

To everyone who has offered advice, shared knowledge, encouraged us, or simply had a chat around the pens—thank you. Poultry is a wonderful community, and we’re grateful to be part of it.

The 2026 breeding season is just around the corner, and we’re genuinely excited to see what lies ahead.

Massive shout out to my incredible wife Ruthie Larkin (who would never tell you herself) has had a great day out at Cessnock all breeds club. Taking out Champion Soft feather large, reserve soft feather large and bird of show out of 76 soft feather large an amazing result.

We’re all so proud of you.

Great day at Maitland Show & Rodeo to start the show season. Ruth came away with Champion Orpington, champion soft feather large and Theo was awarded a special prize for the junior entry with the call ducks
