I have a long term love affair with this Clare Valley producer first trying their 2012 Joshua Tree Riesling and I am yet to be disappointed. The 2925 Joshua Tree is full of bright energy and power underpinned by a well developed lime, lemon, grapefruit and dare I say a hint of banana 🍌 (yes it does happen ) . It’s amazing what a bit of knowledge can give you, this is a classic gall which is a common infection caused by wasps laying their eggs in the wood of the fruit. Effectively robbing the fruit if required nutrients , stifling growth and fruit development . Simple solution is use an everyday peeler and remove the wood off the gall and expose the larvae to the world . Aged Riesling from acid and citrus driven to melons, pineapples , pears , flecks of white pepper and thyme but despite its age the acidity is still bright and present , the fruit structure is holding together and not showing any of the kerosine characteristics that many aged Aussie Rieslings do .
