MEET OUR GROWERS 🥑 Episode 1: Matt Dorrian
Say g'day to Matt Dorrian, the man who grows the avos you smash on toast! 🥑
Matt's life motto: "I don't do drama… I grow avocados!"
Those who know him well are now laughing. Loudly. 🎭
Matt is the third generation of Dorrians growing in the Childers region. His grandad Bill started the farm in 1952. Then in 1978, Matt's dad John rocked up and planted avocados, back when most Aussies thought an avo was a typo. 🥑 He also bred the Calypso mango along the way. 🥭
Today Dorrian Farms is 650+ hectares of avos and mangoes, all run day to day by Matt.
Matt's career highlights so far:
🥑 Has never once been stressed. Or so he says (Again, those who know him well are now laughing. Loudly. 🎭).
🥑 Checks every avo personally. Squeezes gently, judges silently.
🐕 Employs Dusty the red cattle dog as Head of Supervision. Dusty's pay is pats, and he negotiates hard.
Matt would like you to know the farm is very calm. The avos are calm. The mangoes are calm. Dusty is calm. 🐕
Matt, allegedly, is the only one who's ever had a dramatic moment in the orchard. We're told it was about a single bruised avo. Witnesses say there was a gasp. 😱
