Qld Setter Rescue and Rehoming This page is for advertising any setters who need rehoming or rescue. The Setter Club of Queensland (Sept 2012- Dec 2024) has been wound up.

The Club’s aims and objectives are to raise the profile of the Four Setter breeds and harness the resources of our members to make a positive contribution to promote the breeds. The club promotes responsible dog ownership and encourages good sportsmanship amongst our members and actively encourage sporting activities. The club is now an identified club for the 4 Setter Breeds to ensure that Queens

land has an active voice within the purebred fraternity and Queensland is included in the progress of the breeds in Australia now and in the future . The club is also a point of contact for any rescue or rehoming for any of the 4 Setter breeds. The current members of the club are enthusiastic and keen to be involved in community; promotional and fun social activities. Historically, The Setter Club of Queensland was formed as a Social Club in the 1970's and ran for some years until 1982 when affiliation was granted and it held its first show (a Parade) on 26 Feb 1983 judged by Graham Schmidt before running their first Championship Specialty Setter Show in 1984. The club continued to run shows and promote the 4 Setter breeds until 2004. The club did most of its fundraising at that time by providing catering for other club shows which provided the much needed funds for the running of specialty Shows until it was wound-up in 2004 due to diminishing numbers and workers in the club.

Morning to the Setter community and thank you for following our club for the past 13 years.

Our club has now wound up due to declining numbers of volunteers to help run the club and events.

This page will be renamed and will be a point of contact for any setters that may need rescue and/or rehoming.

With deep sadness, we share the heartbreaking news that Dawne Morgan passed away last Wednesday, 28 May 2025.

Dawne has been an active member, serving as President and on committee for the past 13 years since The Setter Club of Queensland re-established in 2012.

Dawne was such a beautiful soul, generous heart and loved one of her special breeds, the Irish Setter who she had by her side always.

Dawne will be very missed as my beautiful friend and breed lover and advocate.

Gone too soon 😭😢 Rest in Peace 💜💜💜💜💜💜

A memorial show will be held by the Golden Retriever Club of Queensland (Dawne’s other special breed) on Saturday 5/7/25 at Durack.
