Celebrating 5 years of our second Mörk store. 🤎

Housed inside an old elevator shaft in the heart of Melbourne, it was definitely our most surprising location. But we had a vision, and it turned out to be our cutest location.

Mörk Elevator is our express introduction to the world of Mörk, tucked away in the bustling laneway of Equitable Place.

Five years, countless hot chocolates and plenty of memories later, Mörk Elevator has become a much loved part of our Melbourne story.

Chilli chocolate deserves more than just heat. 🔥

For The Fire Thief, we blend five different chillies: ancho, guajillo, pasilla, chipotle and habanero. Each brings something different, from dried fruit and raisin notes to smoke, warmth and a lingering chilli glow.

Blended in house with cacao, toasted corn and aromatic spices, it was created to warm rather than burn.

A true Melbourne collaboration.

Two beans, coffee and cacao, grown less than four hours apart in Nicaragua, travelling across the Pacific before meeting again in Melbourne.

One destined for Patricia Coffee Brewers. The other for Mörk Chocolate.

Together they became two very different expressions of coffee in chocolate.

BLACK — 65% dark coffee chocolate. Bright, delicate and clean, with the tang of a good espresso.
WHITE — 50% milk coffee chocolate. Creamy, comforting and inspired by a beautifully made white coffee.

Two Melbourne makers. Two Nicaraguan beans. One collaboration.

A better bag for a better brew.

Our cacao husk tea is packed into biodegradable pyramid tea bags, giving the roasted husk more space to open, move and infuse as it brews.

The pyramid shape helps create a fuller infusion, while the biodegradable material keeps the format simple and considered.

What happens to the cacao husk after we roast our beans? 🌱

For us, it’s another ingredient waiting to be used.

As part of our approach to reducing waste and making more from every cacao bean, we take the aromatic husk from our house roasted cacao and pair it with whole vanilla bean to create a delicate, naturally chocolatey tea.

And now, it’s even easier to brew at home — our Cacao Husk & Vanilla Tea is available in individual tea bags.

Mörk USA launched in 2018 and was successfully growing until COVID changed everything.

Unfortunately, not every Mörk story is a success story. Running a small business in the USA became increasingly difficult and eventually we made the decision to put Mörk USA on ice.

But we never closed the door.

The business remains dormant and ready to relaunch when the time is right. So perhaps this chapter isn’t finished just yet…

Three years after setting up in London, Mörk found another home abroad.

In 2019, we began our journey in Japan.

What started as a small family owned chocolate business in Melbourne in 2012 was now travelling a little further, finding its way into cafés and cups across Japan.

Seven years later, Japan remains an important part of the Mörk story, and one we’re incredibly proud of.

Melbourne → London → Japan.

Not bad for a little chocolate company from Melbourne. 🍫

Did you know you can find Mörk Chocolate across the UK and Europe?

This year marks 10 years since we began operating out of London, bringing our Melbourne made drinking chocolate to cafés on the other side of the world.

Today, we supply more than 200 cafés across the UK and Europe, while remaining the same small, family owned business that began in Melbourne in 2012.

From Melbourne to London, and plenty of cups in between.

Chilli spiced hot chocolate, glowing ember jube, toasted blue corn

This is the story of Tlacuach, the clever opossum who stole one glowing ember from the gods to save humanity from the freezing dark.

In ancient Mexico, humanity shivered in a cold, starless night until a clever opossum braved the underworld to steal a spark of divine fire. Smuggling the glowing ember out in his tail, he gifted mankind with eternal warmth and a lingering, fiery spirit.

Born over 1500 years ago, this ancient myth was first told in the sacred Nahuatl tongue of the Aztecs. It survives today as a timeless echo, carved into centuries-old clay artifacts and preserved in the living folklore of the Americas.

The Fire Thief is served exclusively at original Mörk Chocolate Brew House and Mörk Looking Glass (Centre Place).
