The Moccona Story:
The Moccona story begins in The Netherlands in 1753 when Mr Egbert Douwes founded the Douwe Egberts Company, selling coffee, tea and to***co from a small shop in the village of Joure. From these humble beginning...s, Douwe Egberts gradually expanded around the country, becoming the market leader for coffee and tea. Douwe Egberts created Moccona in the early 1960s and brought it
to Australia. It was initially sold in delicatessens, specialty outlets and later through pharmacies, where it was presented in a glass cylinder with a gold cup. In 1977, Moccona appeared in supermarkets in the now iconic reusable glass storage jar. It has been synonymous with the Australian freeze dried coffee culture ever since.
