Join Kym Ormond and discover the ideas behind permaculture and how they can be applied to the way we grow food, use resources and create more sustainable homes and communities.

In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore the ethics and principles that underpin permaculture, from caring for people and the planet to reducing waste, working with nature and making the most of what we already have. We’ll look at how these ideas translate into practical everyday actions, whether you have a large backyard, a small garden or simply want to live a little more sustainably.

Set your clothes free is back next Saturday 31st October.
Donate your unwanted high-quality clothing, and recycle poor quality clothing and textiles.
Set your clothes free focuses on collecting unwanted textiles and giving them a second life. High quality items collected will be donated to charity partners, and low-quality items will be recycled. This eases the burden placed on charity stores that can become overwhelmed with poor-quality donations that can’t be re-sold.

Join us for a native grass workshop with local Botanist Andrew Crompton. Held at Andrews purpose-built classroom in Mount Barker, we will learn some theory before we head outdoors to observe some different grass species.
This is a beginner friendly workshop - property owners, botany or ecology students, or volunteers in local bushcare groups in particular will benefit from this workshop.

What to expect:
✅Get to know native grasses, why are they important, and how they differ from introduced species.
✅Build identification skills
✅Learn to recognise common native grasses and distinguish them from weeds.
✅Learn grass-specific botanical terminology.
✅Understand what the presence of native grasses can tell us about the local environment.
✅Bring in samples to discover what’s on your property
