With rain around the farms ranging from 106 to 160 mm for the year so far, we are not unhappy with how everything looks in the video, sheep and canola. We are concentrating on what we can control and trying not to stress about what we cannot. Trying being the major word in that sentence. Work in progress.

🎙️ Episode 131: Respond, Don't React — What the Farmers Sleeping Well at Night Are Doing Differently with Paul Omodei - Planfarm

Some farming families are getting through this season calm, clear-headed and sleeping well at night. Others are quietly unravelling under the exact same pressures — rising costs, tight margins, an unforgiving season.

Ben sits down with Paul Omodei, Farm Business Consultant and Director at Planfarm, to talk about what actually separates those two families. Spoiler: it's not the size of the balance sheet.

They get into why so many multi-generational farming businesses quietly fracture long before succession ever hits the table — and what the families getting it right are doing differently, years before a lawyer's involved.

📌 About Planfarm: Planfarm is one of Australia's leading farm business consultancies, working alongside farming families across WA, SA and Queensland to build stronger, more resilient family businesses for the next generation. Website link in comments below.

👉 Full episode link is in the comments — also available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts. Especially worth a listen if succession is on your mind.

Upgraded our TE Pari handler to the new Racewell HD4 🐑 Already noticing the difference in the yards — sheep moving through smoothly and the auto-drafting is picking up the pace. Great step up from our old unit.
