e property. You'll also find Black Perigord Truffles during the winter months, and can try these delicacies during the annual Black Tie and Gumboot Truffle dinner, usually held the last weekend in July - an event invovling a Truffle hunt with the dogs in the muddy, or freezing trufferie, then followed by a 5 course degustation meal featuring the Black Truffle! Come and ask the grower and owner Borry Gartrell all about them! All produce of Borrodell is also served when in season at the onsite restaurant "Sisters Rock". 11/11/75. A moment that will be remembered in Australian history.
The dismissal resulted in Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam touring Australia firming up his team and seeking a few new candidates to join him for the unexpected election.
Having heard of Borry’s potential and enthusiasm, Gough travelled specifically to Orange to meet with Borry and invite him to stand as a Labor candidate.

Borry showed political commitment and creativity with his passion for the community, the environment, prison reform, and regional development.

This photo was taken after the closed-door discussions regarding the upcoming elections.
Borry, however, decided not to stand at that hurried election because he didn’t think the chaotic political atmosphere of that time would be sustainable.
He was right. He focused his attention instead on his beloved home town and region. He fought passionately for the National Parks, for the farmers (helping establish the Farmers Markets), plus all the development of tourism in Orange and districts.

The passion displayed by these leaders during this time is needed now more than ever.

What comes next is being shaped now.

A new dining space is on the horizon- one that honours what was, while leaning into everything this next chapter can be. Thoughtfully designed. Rooted in the land. Built to welcome you back.

As truffle lunches wind down, we continue with spring celebrations and the experiences you've come to know. The fire marked a moment. The future will define us.
