So stoked watching my fluffy little Gold Laced Wyandotte egg gremlins grow! Only 1 week old and feels like they’ve more than doubled in size! 🐣🥰 It’s crazy how fast they’ve grown already — getting bigger, stronger, healthier and more curious by the day! 💛

They’re exploring, thriving and getting into absolutely everything. Just delightful to watch! ❤️

The only downside? The sheer amount of food they go through and the truly impressive quantity of p**p they produce… 😂💩

Tiny fluff balls with enormous appetites 😂🐥

After getting introduced to their bigger playground, these little egg gremlins wasted absolutely NO time getting into mischief 🤣 One little chick has discovered a piece of straw, and suddenly it’s turned into a full-blown game of chase! 🏃‍♀️💨😂

🐣 Did you know? For chickens, chasing each other mimics natural scavenger instincts, when one chicken finds a tasty morsel (like a worm, bug, or scrap), its first instinct is often to grab it and run so no one else steals it. The moment others start chasing her, the game is on (though it can occasionally look like tiny, feathered WWE match).

Basically, they’re not just being tiny, feathered hooligans… they’re learning how to be chickens! 🤣🐔❤️

Meanwhile, I’m just over here accepting that my sunroom belongs to the chickens now. I’m simply the staff. 😂🤦‍♀️

😂 How good is being an adult and turning your sunroom into a petting zoo?! 🐣❤️

My little Gold Laced Wyandotte egg gremlins were already getting a bit crowded in their brooder, so they’ve been upgraded to a bigger playground! 🏡🐥✨

🐣 LIFE ADVICE FROM A 1-DAY-OLD CHICK 🥚😂

When life gets a little too hectic, the world gets too loud, and you’ve had enough of everyone’s nonsense…

Just stick your head inside an egg and take a nap. 😴🐣

No bills. No responsibilities. No drama. Just vibes and yolk. 🤣🥚

Honestly, this little fluffy nugget might be onto something. 😂❤️

And we couldn’t be more chuffed with this little arrival party this morning! 🥹💛

A whole lot of fluff, tiny beaks, wobbly legs and absolute cuteness overload… our incubator is getting rather crowded! 🐣✨

🐔✨ Why Gold Laced Wyandottes are my favourite breed! ✨🐔

Here are just a few reasons why I love them so much! 💛

🥚 Great Egg Production (one of the best): Laying roughly 200 to 220 large brown or tan eggs per year (about 3 to 4 eggs a week), making them a fantastic choice for a productive backyard flock.

🌧️ Winter layers – They are cold-hardy and often continue to lay better through the winter months compared to many other breeds

✨ Striking Ornamental Beauty - Their distinctive golden-brown feathers edged in crisp black create a dramatic, lacy appearance that makes them popular show birds and attractive yard additions

🥰 Calm and Docile Temperament - They are generally easy-going, steady, and friendly toward human keepers, fitting nicely into backyard flocks

🐣 Excellent heritage breed – A dual-purpose breed traditionally valued for both egg production and meat.

💕 Good Mothers & Broodiness - Many lines exhibit strong broody tendencies, making them reliable setters and good mothers for raising chicks

For me, Gold Laced Wyandottes are the perfect combination of beauty, hardiness, personality and productivity. 💛🐔

It’s easy to see why I love breeding these gorgeous birds here at Zini Heritage Poultry!
