MSS was given one simple instruction this week:

**Create the ultimate Father’s Day sausage.**

So naturally, he began by studying the mysterious creature known as **The Australian Dad**.

He observed him carefully in his natural habitat…

Wearing a flannel shirt despite it being 27 degrees.

Standing beside the smoker, poking at a piece of meat that won’t be ready for another nine hours.

Starting the mower at 7am so the entire neighbourhood knows he’s being productive.

Pumping iron in the shed, followed by three days of complaining about his shoulder.

Communicating through a sophisticated series of grunts, nods and suspicious noises.

Giving himself a good scratch, then immediately reaching into the chip bowl.

And wearing the same un**es two days in a row because, apparently, turning them inside out constitutes “fresh.”

MSS took notes.

**Beef**, because Dad believes salad is what you put beside the meat.

**B**r**, because standing near a barbecue is thirsty work.

**Bacon**, because every food can be improved by bacon.

And **BBQ sauce**, because Dad doesn’t measure anything—he just gives the bottle a squeeze and says, “Yeah, that’ll do.”

Then MSS combined all four pillars of blokedom into one gloriously beefy, smoky sausage:

But Jo decided that four bloke-approved ingredients weren’t quite enough.

She marched into the pickle laboratory, grabbed a cabbage and—because ordinary coleslaw would be far too sensible—**pickled the whole lot in b**r.**

It’s crisp. It’s tangy. It contains cabbage, so technically Dad can tell everyone he ate a vegetable.

🎡 **MSS AND THE FERRIS WHEEL FIASCO** 🎡

With the Gold Coast Show in town, MSS decided it was time to leave the laboratory and enjoy a well-earned day of rides, showbags and questionable carnival food.

But being MSS, he couldn’t go anywhere without packing a few “emergency ingredients” inside his lab coat — some chicken, fresh spinach, Parmesan cheese and a generous supply of cracked pepper.

Everything was going beautifully… until he climbed aboard the Ferris wheel.

Halfway to the top, there was a loud **CLUNK**.

The wheel shuddered.

The carriage swung wildly.

And MSS’s emergency ingredients flew through the air!

Chicken went left.

Spinach went right.

Parmesan rained down like showground confetti.

And the cracked pepper exploded so spectacularly that everyone in the carriage began sneezing.

By the time the Ferris wheel finally stopped, MSS was hanging onto the safety bar, his goggles were crooked and all four ingredients had somehow landed together inside his sausage-making bag.

He took one look at the mixture and grinned.

“Forget the showbags… I’ve just created a **SHOWSTOPPER!**”

And that is how this week’s Gold Coast Show-inspired creation was born:

# # MSS AND THE SEARCH FOR THE PERFECT LAMB SAUSAGE

The message from the Lakeside faithful was loud and clear this week — **WE WANT LAMB!** And when the community speaks, MSS listens. So he disappeared into the lab, pulled out the mixing bowls, raided the spice cupboard and set about creating the perfect lamb sausage.

He experimented with everything. Herbs, spices, chilli, honey, fruit, sweet, savoury and combinations that probably should never have left the lab. He mixed and tasted, adjusted and tasted again. A dozen different lamb creations later, there were some absolute crackers, a few questionable decisions and at least one experiment everyone at Lakeside has agreed never to speak of again.

But none of them were quite right.

MSS wasn't looking for *another* good lamb sausage. He wanted the **perfect** lamb sausage. And somewhere between batch eleven and batch twelve, he stopped, pushed his goggles up onto his forehead and realised something rather embarrassing.

**He'd been trying to invent something Lakeside already had.**

Sitting right there in our sausage cabinet was our **Lamb, Pumpkin & Feta** — beautiful lamb, sweet pumpkin and creamy, salty feta. Three simple flavours that just work together. It's already one of our favourites, our customers already love it, and MSS had just spent an entire week trying to improve something that didn't need improving.

Even a Mad Sausage Scientist occasionally has to admit defeat.

**Why fix what isn't broken?**

So this Saturday there'll be no strange new experiment coming out of the lab. Instead, MSS is firing up the BBQ and celebrating one of our already-famous Lakeside sausages — the mighty **'LAMB'ORGHINI!**
