Here’s the Little Flower’s homage to shasta daisies and a marriage which took place in April four decades ago this year.

The wedding anniversary cake is bedecked with shasta daisies with their cheery golden centres and bright white petals all displayed on a green backdrop, which in a way echoes the green and yellow colour motif of the wedding ceremony.

The shasta daisy was the couple’s wedding flower choice for it symbolised their partnership’s common qualities: simplicity, finding joy in small things, and the ability to adapt to life’s changes. Though fragile, the flower is a picture of resilience, always standing tall and unperturbed by the wind, as though proving it thrives in adversity.

Looking forward to a love that will last a lifetime.

can’t do it all year round but this time of year is perfect. “Quince season in Australia runs through autumn, typically peaking from April to June. To follow the seasons kitchen principles means to cook using fresh, locally available ingredients at their peak while applying classical culinary skills. This approach yields better-tasting, budget-friendly, and sustainable meals that are deeply connected to the rhythm of the year.” I was born and raised in a tropical country where quinces were unavailable. So greatful for the opportunity to be making a cake with quinces.
