Taronga Poll Herefords

Taronga Poll Herefords Taronga Poll Herefords The Taronga Stud herd has now moved into it’s 5th decade since foundation in 1973 with a 13yr old cow from the Grampians Stud dispersed.

Then followed by 2 females from the Curdie Park Stud dispersal, then a further line of heifers from the Kentgrove Stud. These females have been the backbone of our stud since. Over the following years select females have been added from various studs including Bellwyn, Glenfern, Oak Glen, Langowan, Carimbar, Fairbanks, Warrensville, Woorndoo Park, Pine Hill, Chandivan, Allendale, Pleasant Banks, M

erawah, Doonbiddie, Mt Difficult, Burando and more recently some purchases from the Beechy Stud dispersal at Colac and 8 heifers from the Sevenbardot sale in 2013. Combined with these females we have purchased sires from Kentgrove (6), Nioka, Grovewin, Langowan, Sevenbardot (5), Chandivan, Nullamanna, Allendale, Five Star, The Braes, Emu Holes, Fairbanks, Warrensville (7), Pine Hill (3), Denison, Heatherdale, Rosstulla (2), Taradale, Markowen (3), Cannawigra, Wrattenbullie (3), Kerlson Pines, Roeston Park, Spotshill, Bendulla, Injemira and Tycolah. These purchases and progeny of have been the cornerstone of what are a 120 cow stud herd and a 350+ cow commercial operation. Our philosophy for the stud herd is the same as our commercial operation, heifers calve as a 2year old after a 9 week joining with no second chances for heifers or cows. Our objective is to breed a low maintenance animal that produces an autumn calf every year suited for the January weaner calf sales. We hope you have enjoyed our cattle and if you purchased a bull we thankyou, and if not we would like to think that perhaps we can be of help to you in the future. With thanks from the Lambert’s at TARONGA

When an opportunity came up to inspect an herd being dispersed we couldn’t knock that back.
Road trip up to the northern end of the Grampians led us to purchasing some quality leading females from Mt Difficult Poll Hereford Stud.
Thank you to Rudy & Ted for the opportunity.
Now we just need some water in our dams!

Billy’s media appearances have paid off, and thanks to a listener from the ABC interview we have been lucky enough to be able to secure some agistment with a healthy water supply a couple of weeks ago.
Another 23 went down today, making it just over 50 heifers enjoying a change of scenery. Heads went straight down when the green grass was spotted!
