The final touch before it reaches the table.
Our caramelised apple tart is finished with the kind of care that makes a small piece feel considered — Morley Growers’ Bravo apples from Manjimup, 293km away, folded into golden sweetness with pecan frangipane beneath.

Warm, buttery & quietly familiar, it’s the sort of dessert that feels like comfort, just dressed a little finer.

Behind every tier is a steady hand, a sharp eye & a team who understand that high tea is all in the detail.

Led by Head Chef Thyago Rocha, our chefs and pastry experts bring a quiet artistry to Cape Arid Rooms — shaping each savoury, sweet and seasonal element with care. From his early beginnings in Brazil to kitchens across Europe, Thyago’s approach carries a deep respect for technique, flavour & the beauty of creating something by hand.

At Cape Arid Rooms, that craft is seen in the smallest moments — a delicate finish, a balanced flavour, a piece made to be enjoyed slowly.

A little sparkle changes the afternoon.

From bright pours grown down south in Margaret River to our much-loved Champagne, each glass brings its own sense of occasion to the table. Paired with delicate tiers of savouries & sweets, sparkling wine turns high tea into something slower, lighter & just a little more indulgent.

Winter has a way of bringing us back to the comforts we know best.
A seat beside the fireplace, a warm tea or coffee held close, and the quiet pleasure of letting the afternoon slow down around you. At Cape Arid Rooms, cooler days are met with small rituals that feel familiar — the kind that warm more than your hands.

Look closer, and Cape Arid reveals itself in the smallest details.

Across the room, ornate pieces echo the rivers and streams that carve through the land, the soft grain of sand underfoot, the wide reach of sky overhead and the quiet branching forms of native flora. Each detail carries a fragment of the region within it — turning the space into something more than a setting, but a reflection of the landscape that inspired it.

Beyond Shark Bay’s turquoise edge, where saltwater moves with tide & light, Northern Star Seafood scallops begin their journey 823km north of our home at Point Zero.

Brought to rest on brioche with yuzu gel & brown butter, each piece carries the coast in delicate contrast — clean ocean sweetness, citrus brightness & a warmth that lingers softly after the bite.

Set just above Point Zero, Cape Arid Rooms rests over the marker from which Perth is measured, a quiet emblem of the city's beginning and the fabric upon which it was built.

Within this civic heart, gatherings feel deeply connected to place. Surrounded by the heritage of the State Buildings and overlooking Cathedral Square, the room offers an intimate setting at the centre of it all.

Our savoury tray draws from the feeling of shelter after the storm — the relief of warmth, the pleasure of something layered, and the quiet comforts of home.

Kasundi cream brings a gentle heat, yuzu cuts through like a break in the clouds, brown butter settles in with richness, while mushroom, polenta & parmesan mascarpone return the tray to something earthy, soft & deeply grounding.

A savoury tier made for the season’s wilder moods.

The Drift brings Cape Arid Rooms Gin together with maraschino, aspen, strawberry gum, rosemary and orange raindrops — bright enough to lift the palate, botanical enough to feel right at home. A graceful companion to high tea, made for those who like their afternoon with a little more sparkle.

Dewdrops, lightning and the sweeter side of the season.

Inspired by the delicate shimmer of rain resting on native leaves, and the sudden brilliance as it touches the land, the seasonal sweet tray moves between softness and strike. Think dark chocolate depth, caramelised orchard warmth and citrus lifted with Earl Grey, each piece an artful expression of the Cape Arid landscape.
