250 bee stings. In a single day. That used to be normal. 🐝

Brendan's dad has been stung so many times over the years his hands should be wrecked. They're not. He can still play the piano, no pain, no stiffness.

Turns out there's a reason: beekeepers have long sworn by bee sting therapy for arthritis, precise stings along the spine, used almost like a form of natural medicine.

Meanwhile Brendan's own hands are busted up from his AFL days, not from the bees.

"That'd get the average person workers' comp for life, mate." 😂

Would you try it? 👇

No heat. No chemicals. No pesticides. Just honey exactly as it left the hive. 🐝

Brendan walks us through how it's actually extracted and it's nothing like what most people picture.

The honey goes straight from hive to plant with zero heat treatment, which is why you'll still see little bits of wax floating through it weeks later. That's not a flaw, it's proof of how minimally it's been touched.

He also flags the real biosecurity risk to WA right now: it's shifted from imports overseas to interstate transit. Every crossing matters.

This is what "raw honey" is actually supposed to mean. Ever seen honey extracted this way before? 👇

Everyone in Perth knows Rottnest for the quokkas. Almost nobody knows it's one of the most important sites in West Australian beekeeping. 🐝🏝️

Brendan explains why: Rottnest is where the breeding happens. Bees are taken over to selectively breed for honey production, temperament, and lineage, away from outside influence.

And the lineage is its own story. Our bees trace back to pure Italian mellifera stock, not the darker honey bees or Ligurian bees found in other parts of the country.

It's the reason Perth's honey has a genetic identity most people have never heard of.

Ever wondered why Rottnest island doubles as a bee sanctuary? Full explanation in the video, tag someone who didn't know this 🐝

Most people think honey is just honey. It's not. 🐝

Supermarket honey, imported honey from the US, often contains glyphosate and other chemicals most consumers never hear about.

So what makes WA different? We asked Brendan straight up: is it the geography, the flora, or the isolation?

His answer comes down to biosecurity, being tucked away in one of the most isolated corners of the world means we can actually keep pests and contamination out. But it only works if everyone stays vigilant.

Think you know the answer? Drop your guess below 👇 then watch to see if you're right.

Western Australia is one of the only places on Earth with disease-free bees. 🐝

Brendan, former AFL player, now one of the industry's biggest beekeepers, breaks down why that actually matters.

No disease means no pesticides, no antibiotics needed. Just pristine forests, a pure environment, and bees (native and introduced) that are naturally thriving.

It's not luck, it's active forest management, done right, season after season.

Curious what makes WA honey different from everywhere else? Full breakdown in the video. Save this for later 📌
