30/07/26: Many thanks to everyone who joined us for the "Winter Beer Monsters 2026" tasting at Silly Goose last night... and apologies to Matt and Takeshi for somehow cutting them out of the second pic! It was a huge night of big, bold, beautiful winter brews, so here's what we tasted:

1. Brasserie Dupont Bons Voeux (9.5% abv)
2. Nail Brewing Australia Super Red Imperial Red Ale (11% abv)
- served with Bahn Mi Pork Belly Tacos
3. Artisan Brewing x Nail Father Dunn Brown (8% abv)
4. Evil Mega Corporation Elderflower Wine (10% abv)
- served with Wagyu Cheeseburger
5. Bridge Road B2 Bomber Mach 16.0 (11.4% abv)
6. Margaret River Brewhouse 2026 Panther Cream Whisky Barrel Aged Imperial Stout (12% abv)
- served with Housemade Brownie
7. Hawkers Beer Black Barleywine (12.2% abv)

26th JUNE UPDATE:

Ticket sales for our "Winter Beer Monsters" tasting on July 30th have been SOLID to say the least, so I just want to confirm that more than 50% of available seats have now been snapped up! I have been contemplating a second event if demand is strong enough, so that's a possibility... But, as of right now, there are just 12 tickets left. Cheers folks!

Afternoon for it… Just one of the gems in Artisan Brewing’s “Ten 10% abv Beers for Ten Years - Tabarnak! Belgian-style Quadrupel (10% abv, obviously!). The weather demanded a response, and this beauty’s robust plum/prune, toffee, dried fruits, and spice - and that abv - is warming the cockles perfectly… I have a couple of the Solus Golden Strong Ale in the fridge, just in case. Cheers Team Artisan!

BTW, if you’re in the East Perth area, Porters Liquor Langley Park is clearing remaining stocks of the Artisan “Ten Years” Anniversary releases at $6.99 per can. Call in and grab a bargain!

Too damn good to be a “Short Stay” limited, King Road Brewing Co has added this superb American-style Pale Ale to its “seasonal” release schedule… It’s a solid, full-flavoured, 6.3% abv rendition, with Citra and Mosaic hops doing their gloriously dank, citrus-pine dance atop biscuity, caramel malts… It’s a ten-out-of-ten performance.

Many thanks to everyone - all 26 of you! - who joined us for "The Devil Made Me Drink It...", our slightly sinful response to the cooling temperatures of Autumn 2026 (or have we skipped straight into Winter?). It certainly seemed that the beers were well received, and the three courses of matched food, from the Silly Goose kitchen, worked beautifully to warm our bellies! Here's the lowdown:

1. Duvel 6.66% (6.66% abv)
2. Schlenkerla Urbock Rauchbier (6.5% abv) - Food Match: Pork Belly with house-made miso sauce and topped with pickled onion, roasted peppers and sesame seeds.
3. Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co Ken Allen DDH Red Ale (7.6% abv)
4. Duvel Tripel Hop Citra Belgian IPA (9.5% abv) - Food Match: Seared barramundi fillet with golden, crispy skin, served with fresh avocado & mango salsa.
5. Hargreaves Hill Brewing Company The Phoenix Imperial Red (9.6% abv)
6. Artisan Brewing Quad Speciale Blenders Edition Vol. 2 (10.2% abv) - Food Match: Biscoff crust, swirled with cookie butter and topped with a rich drizzle and crunchy biscuit crumbles.
7. Eggenberger International Samichlaus Classic (14% abv)

Great beers, good food, and plenty of laughs... Cheers folks!

I’m not sure how many years are required to create a “Classic”, but Eagle Bay’s 90 Pilsner has been as good as WA Summer craft-beer releases get for quite a few years now… It’s an absolute gem and a credit to the brewers involved; an utterly clean, crisp Pilsner with an irresistible, tropical twist of NZ dry-hopping… Do not miss!

Just a few highlights from last Thursday’s “Spring Into Beer Baby!” tasting at Silly Goose… The Short Stay American Pale Ale from King Road Brewing Co was a dynamic combination with the kitchen’s Empanadas (gone before I could snap a pic)! Then Brasserie Dupont delivered sunshine in a can between courses, before Eagle Bay Brewing’s glorious Yuzu IIPL tackled a Pork Belly main… And that superb hop-bomb collab from Rocky Ridge and Mountain Culture - the fabulously dubbed F**ktangular! - added the juice to dessert.

Finishing us off in style, Common People brought the big finish with their Barrel-Aged Billycart Blonde… It’s a beer that started life as a 7.6% abv Belgian-style Blonde Ale, before spending ten months in ex-rum barrels from the Lord Byron Distillery. During that time, the brew absorbed oak and rum characters, along with alcohol from the wood - becoming a wonderfully complex 10.3% abv beast… Exceptional!

Thanks to all who joined us on this journey, and we looked forward to our annual “Tis The Saison” event before Xmas. Cheers folks!
