Kinglake Raspberries

Spring is here and the wild daffodils at the back of the property are putting on a show! The raspberries are just starting to burst bud and at this stage I'm thinking the picking season will start in early Dec.

The Autumn season that wasn't!

I've avoided posting this autumn as the flowering was sporadic and very late, the birds didn't destroy the fruiting parts this year but were quite happy to feast on the occasional ripe berry. I think we managed to pick a total of about 6kg for the season. As I am writing this there are still flowers and lots of green berries in the patch, with the cold weather and the plants starting to go dormant I doubt any will ripen to maturity. So apologies to all those who rang and were told 'just a couple of more weeks'😔.
I will start digging canes towards the end of the month so there will be plants for sale through July and August.

And just like that, the season comes to an end. It's a foggy, wet and windy day up at the farm today and there are very few berries left to pick. I will close for the summer pick your own season at the end of today 1/2/26. You can still get your pyo fix at the blueberry farms, check out Higham Blueberries - Kinglake and Summerberries Blueberry Farm Might be a good idea to give them a call to check the conditions.

A few in today, mostly first time Raspberry pickers, with a walk and a wander they are managing to find some lovely Ripe Red Raspberries.

The season is coming to an end and there are not buckets of berries to pick. If you're prepared for a walk and wander you will find some lovely raspberries. If you're hoping to pick a quick kg or 2 you will be disappointed. With no entry fee and the only cost is for the berries you pick it is a cheap family outing and the children will love it.

Mum and Dad, visiting from overseas, never picked a raspberry before. Went for a little wander and search, came back with a lovely 1 and half kg.

Ripe Red Raspberries ready for picking, there aren't heaps although a wander and search low inside the bushes will yield some lovely tasty berries.
