Tapanappa is the ongoing mission of celebrated winemaker Brian Croser and his family to make world-class wines from the most distinguished sites in South Australia. The winery and cellar door sit at the foot of the oldest vineyard in the Adelaide Hills - The Tiers Vineyard - which is globally recognised for its outstanding Chardonnay. Tapanappa Cellar Door also proudly hosts the wines of DAOSA and Terre a Terre, produced by Brian’s son-in-law and daughter Xavier and Lucy Bizot.

And that’s a wrap on Chardonnay May! We loved wining and dining with so many of you throughout the month and sharing the Chardonnays that define our story. A heartfelt thank‑you to everyone who joined us for our Meet the Makers tasting last weekend. It was a fantastic panel exploring the journeys of three remarkable Chardonnay voices, Brian, Xavier, and Mike Symons. We also enjoyed a series of wonderful dinners across the city and the Hills, celebrating alongside an incredible community of Chardonnay producers. Chardonnay May may have wrapped up, but great Chardonnay is worth celebrating all year long.

Crêpes & Cabernets is back for 2026! Join us on Saturday, 25 July for a tasting flight of elegant Cabernet-based blends paired with heartwarming crêpes and delicious galettes. This is a fantastic experience and a great way to get out of the brisk, winter air. Tickets are just $30 per person and will include a gorgeous lineup of four Cabernet-based wines from Tapanappa & Terre à Terre, as well as a crêpe or galette, made by to order. Seatings are 90 minutes and will be available throughout the day.

This is the last week of our fantastic seasonal tasting: All About Chardonnay. This tasting takes you on a journey through the Piccadilly Valley wine region and some of its best vintages, showcasing the three Chardonnays we make; Piccadilly Valley, Tiers 1.5M Vineyard, and Tiers Vineyard, across a range of warm and cool vintages. This is an excellent tasting to explore not only the diversity of terroir throughout our region, but also the age worthiness of our Chardonnays.

Today is International Chardonnay Day! We have a long history of Chardonnay winemaking at Tapanappa, pioneering cool-climate Chardonnay in Australia. A big step was taken on that journey in 2003, when Brian took the bold move to replant the oldest section of the Tiers Vineyard with Dijon clones on rootstocks. Each vine was planted 1.5m apart, and each row 1.5m wide, with a close spacing of 4,444 vines per hectare and trained closer to the ground, resulting in grapes with a slightly different character to the old-vine Tiers vineyard.
 
This new vineyard, the Tiers 1.5M Vineyard, produces its own character of Chardonnay. The closer spacing and low-vine training regimen mean that the grapes ripen at different rates, producing wines with powerful fruit characters and writing a new chapter in the history of the distinguished Tiers terroir.
