The Sheep at Pierces Creek Produce 🐑🌱
Have you seen our little flock of sheep when you’ve stopped by to pick up your veggies?
We’ve been dabbling in Black Face Dorpers for the past few years, but recently we’ve started changing over to white-faced sheep. They’ve become an important part of our little permaculture-style farm.
Our sheep help us make the most of what we grow by happily cleaning up our garden excess, while their manure goes straight back into the paddocks and garden, helping return nutrients to the soil. It’s a simple little cycle that works well for us — grow it, feed it, return it to the soil and grow again.
And, of course, they taste pretty good too! 🥩
It’s all part of what we’re trying to create here at Pierces Creek Produce — a small farm where the market garden, animals and paddocks all work together as much as possible.
So next time you’re here picking up your veggies, have a look over in the paddock. There’s a good chance you’ll see the flock keeping busy. 🐑🥕🌱
