Presenting our member-exclusive Private Bin Red Release wines from Vintage 2025.

“The Private Bin Reds from the 2025 vintage are wines that I believe epitomise Hunter Valley reds of the modern age, that all have a sense of place, and are unmistakably Tyrrell’s.” – Fifth Generation, Chris Tyrrell.

The 2025 vintage was an abundant one due to the ideal amount of rain in autumn and winter, as well as calm conditions throughout flowering which set up the vines perfectly with plenty of bunches as well as healthy canopies. Some heat over Christmas and some timely rain just before harvest ensured we were in a great position for vintage.

Chris Tyrrell shares, “As soon as we began pumping over the reds, it was evident that we would have some lovely wines from the 2025 vintage. The colours were electric purple, some of the most intense I’ve seen in years, particularly Montana, 4 Acres, Old Hillside and Mother’s.”

On the 2025 red release wines, Bruce Tyrrell, AM shares, “In general this is a year for vineyard characters to shine. My favourite is not easy to pick, but I think that Vat 9 Shiraz will be the wine I will want to drink for a long time.”

Today, our Private Bin members receive exclusive pre-release access to these wines. If you would like the opportunity to purchase these wines, please visit the link in our bio to learn more about Private Bin Membership.

We look forward to presenting these wines to our Private Bin members around the country later this month.

Today we honour all who served our nation with courage and dedication in times of war. Of those, we remember the Tyrrell family members: Fred, Robert Richard (Tim), Avery, Murray, Astley, Mollie, and Ian Tyrrell. From the Boer War through both World Wars, their service reflects the resilience and duty that continue to define our family legacy.

At the turn of the 19th century, Fred Tyrrell served with the NSW Citizens Bushmen Regiment, while his brother Tim served for the Union of South Africa. Their younger brother Avery (pictured) served in World War I with the Australian Imperial Forces. Upon his return, Avery helped manage the family vineyards, laying the foundations for the quality that still defines Tyrrell’s wines today. Avery’s son Murray served in World War II with the Australian Army, while his brothers Astley and Ian served in the Royal Australian Air Force.

Their collective duty remain part of our history. We recognise the lasting impact of their contributions today and every day. Lest we forget.

If you have visited Tyrrell’s, there is a good chance you would have noticed the 1926 Chevrolet parked in the car park. Celebrating its centenary this year, the car is far from just a display piece. Fourth Generation Bruce Tyrrell still drives it to work every day.

The car was discovered in the 1990s as a pile of scattered parts by Third Generation Murray Tyrrell and his son, Fourth Generation Bruce Tyrrell. The parts were loaded onto the back of a cattle truck and brought back to the winery in exchange for a case of wine.

One of our staff members, a passionate classic car enthusiast, asked if he could restore it. Piece by piece, he meticulously brought the vehicle back to life. Following Murray’s passing in 2000, Bruce has been behind the wheel ever since.
