🧡 It was a rainy day when I received a phone call from one of our lovely customers.
🩶She said, “My friend is dying from cancer, and she is organising her own wake. She really wants your food there. Would you mind making her a little tasting box?”
For a moment, my heart just stopped.
I quickly put together a tasting box for her on Wednesday. I wanted her to be able to try everything and choose what she would love to have at her own farewell.
Her friend later told me that she had actually gotten out of bed just to try our food. ❤️
Two days later, on Friday, she peacefully passed away.
I never had the chance to meet this beautiful lady, yet somehow, I haven’t stopped thinking about her since.
Today was her wake.
As I was preparing the fruit boxes and cheese platters, I felt strangely emotional. All I kept thinking was, “I have to make this really beautiful for her.”
For some reason, I couldn’t stop thinking about pink roses. 🌹🩷
So when we arrived to deliver the food and I saw the room decorated beautifully in pink, I had tears in my eyes. Somehow, everything we had prepared fitted perfectly with her farewell.
Sometimes we get so busy running a business that we forget what food can really mean.
It isn’t always just food.
Sometimes it’s part of a celebration.
Sometimes it’s comfort.
Sometimes it’s a memory.
And sometimes, like today, it’s part of someone’s final goodbye.
❤️To the beautiful lady I never had the privilege of meeting — thank you for choosing our food to be part of such an important day. Knowing that you got out of bed to taste something we made is something I will carry in my heart for a very long time.
And to everyone who continues to love and support our food, this is why I keep going. This is why I keep trying to make everything fresh, beautiful and made with love for our community.
Rest peacefully, beautiful lady. 🩷
No more pain.
Thank you for choosing us to be a tiny part of your final chapter. 🌸
