Long before Yamazaki, there was Eigashima.

Granted Japan's very first whisky-distilling licence in 1919, the White Oak Distillery in Akashi has been quietly doing things its own way ever since. Their copper pot stills run for only a few months each year, producing small batches with a high degree of artisanal control.

The result is Tokinoka, meaning "the fragrance of time". A pair of beautifully balanced blended whiskies that have flown under the radar of the bigger Japanese names for decades.

Worth getting to know.

A few moments from our recent Cerbaco annual meeting in Melbourne.

Three days of planning, reflecting, and bringing the whole team together, followed by a winery day on the Mornington Peninsula.

Somewhere between strategy sessions, team catch-ups, and a few very competitive games, it was a great reminder of how important it is to step away from the day-to-day and spend time together.
