Look, we made a massive fuss of the Mums with pretty blooms back in May... but let’s be honest, try handing the old man a bunch of flowers this Sunday and see what look you get.

Around here, our Dads are usually a whole lot more interested in what’s sizzling on the hotplate than what’s sitting in a vase on the table!

With Father’s Day just around the corner on Sunday 6 September, we want to kick off our celebrations with a massive shout-out to a couple of blokes who have truly rocked our world these past couple of weeks: Ed and Hunter Hall from Channel Country Refrigeration!

These boys have put in a championship effort for us at the store, installing an absolute ripper of a brand-new freezer out the back and sorting out a repair job on our deli fridge.

They might have a social media account to tag, but out here in the real-world arena, their boots are on the ground and they’re running non-stop. Ed is one of our hard-working local dads, and between him and Hunter, you’re always backed by a winning team. Need commercial cooling, air con, or fridge repairs? Give Ed a call for all your fridgy needs to keep your setup running sweet.

Here a Local tip: Head up to GRINDIN’ BEANS SELLIN’ DREAMS on a Saturday morning and if you’re lucky, Ed will craft you a cracking coffee, another pair of fantastic family-run businesses keeping our little town buzzing!

Here’s to Ed and all the hardworking dads keeping the wheels turning, the community supported, and the fridges freezing this Father’s Day. You blokes are absolute champions!

Some folks reckon we didn’t have enough on our plate... so we went and bought the local grocery store!

If you’ve seen us flat out between the earthmoving gear, chasing four growing lads around, and playing taxi to every sporting match across the outback, you know our bench was already pretty full.

So why pull on the Quilpie General Store too?

Simple: family and community mean everything to us. When the chance came up, we wanted to step up to the plate and make sure Quilpie’s local store stayed locally owned and family run.

Plus, you could say it’s in the blood, Kerri’s used to own and run the fruit and veg shop back in Cunnamulla in the day, so the market game isn’t completely foreign territory!

We treat this shop and everyone who walks through the doors, as an extension of our own crew. We’re having a red-hot crack every single day to keep the town fuelled, stocked, and smiling.

From our family to yours, thank you for backing us, having a yarn at the counter, and being part of the journey. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Out here in the Channel Country, “just down the road” looks a little different... 🚚🍞🍰
200km might seem like a trek to some, but out here? That’s just popping over to the neighbours.
Every single morning, while the rest of the world is still fast asleep, the legendary team at Heinemann’s Country Bakery, Charleville in Charleville is already fronting up. They open the batting at silly-o’clock to bake the freshest bread, rolls, and sweet treats in the west.
When you see those fresh baked cakes and slices sitting on our counter at smoko, know this: they were baked this morning.
Getting those goodies 200km down the road to Quilpie fresh every single day takes a true team effort. Safe hands on the road and absolute dedication from their bakers mean we get bakery-fresh goodness right here at the end of the line.
Outback community is all about backing each other. With massive gratitude and a whole lotta respect, thank you to the entire Heinemann’s crew for putting in the hard yards to keep Quilpie fueled!

Forget the fancy white vans and corporate couriers, this is how we roll in the Channel Country!

Out here, grocery delivery is a whole different ball game. While the city has corporate freight companies in shiny buses, we’ve got the local legends who know these dirt tracks like the back of their hand.

At the Quilpie General Store, it’s personal. When those orders come in over the phone or email, we aren’t just packing boxes, we’re packing for mates. We know who wants the green bananas so they last the week, who won’t touch anything but a specific brand of toothpaste, and exactly how to pack a crate so it survives hours of corrugated dirt roads and whatever weather the outback throws at us.

We pack ‘em like they’re headed for a Grand Final, tight and secure, because we know the journey ahead isn’t an easy one.

But honestly? We’d be left with a massive hole in our line-up without our incredible mailmen and women (and their trusty furry co-pilots!). They are the safe hands that get your supplies from our counter to your kitchen, no matter the distance.

If you’ve popped into the store on a weekend or after school, chances are you’ve been greeted by this bloody wally! Meet Vicki Kennedy she’s the definition of high energy and a true-blue larrikin who isn’t afraid to let us hang the p**s on her (clearly, given the new headwear choice).

The real gold medal performance, though, comes from how Vicki treats everyone who walks through the door. She’s one of those legends who actually stops and has a genuine yarn with you. Just the other day, a couple of local girls were in buying ingredients for pancakes. Vicki took a real interest in their breakfast plans, and next thing she knew, the girls were back at the shop delivering her a fresh serving of Sunday breaky! 🥞 Now that is how you play the game!

She’s a total “pocket rocket” when it comes to service—she’s even been known to upsell a new brand of hot chocolate so well that the customer ended up delivering a cup back to her as a thank you. ☕️🙌

When she’s not fronting up at the store, she’s busy shaping young minds as a teacher at the local public school. Even a bit of a “howler” falling down her front steps last week hasn’t stopped her. She was gutted she couldn’t travel for the athletics carnival in Charleville yesterday, but she was glued to her phone for updates all day long.

Vicki, we love your energy and the way you look after the locals. You’re kicking major goals!
