Of all the foods I can make from our raw goat milk, butter has the be my favorite and most exciting. It takes time but it's always so worth it. Fresh raw goat milk is run through my cream separator a couple of times, the heavy cream goes in the fridge and the skim milk goes to the dogs and poultry. Once the cream is very cold, it goes in the Kitchen Aid mixer on high, until the butter separated from the buttermilk. Then it's a cold rinse and it's ready to enjoy!!

Late lactation is my favorite! The milk fat is HIGH, making all the goat milk products that much better! Cheese yield is higher, heavy cream yield per gallon is higher, yogurt is richer, butter is more plentiful, etc.
Milk fat is higher and production is dropping so I keep those in milk that I want to continue to work with, those close to earning their * or those more recently freshened.

Milk test is a fantastic tool to learn how your feed program is working (or not) with your herd. We had some major feed issues this year that caused inversion and lower fhan normal production. At times I wanted to throw in the towel and start fresh next season. Finally, I am seeing numbers that reflect what we should be seeing. The curve is present, and we are back on track. It's easy to get frustrated but I found support in those I trust and respect the most. Thank you for your support and for letting me vent, you know who you are!

Happy had triplets! 💙💙💖

It was a long difficult delivery with quite a bit of intervention required from us, and took all night 😴, but our Happy girl is a rockstar and delivered two bucklings and a doeling. The boys both look like they inherited mama’s brown eyes, and the little brown mini-me doeling has daddy’s blue eyes and spots all over. We’re so proud of our girl, and the whole family is doing so well!!
