A long awaited trip away to see some different cows, Henry used to frequent International Dairy Week annually before welcoming the kids and taking over the farm. This year was the first year we’ve made it back, with three kids along for the ride. It certainly was a change to years gone by!

The quality of cattle was something to behold and it was truly wonderful to see some old friends who we’ve missed catching up with.

Yet again the girls held down fort at home and we couldn’t be more grateful. We are forever aiming for that work life balance so many people talk about, we’re incredibly grateful to have been able to take this week to spend together, even if we did spend it looking at more cows!

Beautiful day in the making, two frosts in two day should give the rye grass and triticale a nice tidy up and kick along.
The weather man tells us it was 3 degrees this morning but the frozen garden hose and bird bath say 3 might have been a bit generous ❄️

💙 The dream team 💙
The kept the cogs turning and the girls happy at home so we didn’t have to give it a second thought. We would never get off farm if it wasn’t for these two, it really is a family effort at Bevandale Family Farming, we couldn’t do it without Lucy and Matthew!

Around this time every year we reflect on the week that was over a coffee and plenty of belly laughs.
Again this year we’re thankful to share the show with our friends and family who make the trip up to Malanda most if not all years and are incredibly grateful to the volunteers who make the show possible.
As the years go on we are witnessing more and more the real beauty of showing cattle, one we hadn’t had the privilege of knowing before now. As our kids grow and are taking on more responsibilities around the animals we’re seeing the same passion and love grow with them too. It is the greatest highlight of the show for us, to see those small humans we love so much loving what we do!

It’s been a busy week here at Bevandale before we send boss man off for a quick trip to the West.

💫 hot water pressure cleaned the calf shed from top to toe thanks to Water Blaster Sales & Service Cairns
💫 harvested the corn silage thanks to Cheelonga Farming
💫 started on the calf shed extension
💫 classified
💫 herd recorded
💫 extended the silage pit
💫 finished planting rye grass
💫 celebrated a birthday and the first lost tooth of our oldest girl
💫 squeezed in a little family time with our crew

We’re incredibly grateful to have such wonderful and supportive people surrounding our business and family.

🌽 Thanks to Daniel from FNQ Agrispray Drone Solutions for taking care of the corn 🌽

Since Fall Army worm arrived growing corn has become more challenging. We’re grateful to have such enthusiastic and knowledgeable business to work with to make the task a little easier.

The Urea went on at just the right time, it’s always nice when the weather gods cooperate.

Here’s hoping everywhere else gets a look at the sun again before too much longer!
