One last chance to get your Avani favourites before we take a little winter break.

Join us this weekend for all the tasty dishes you’ve been loving, before we close our doors from Monday 22 June to Friday 3 July for a short winter break.

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be spending some time in the vineyard and preparing for an exciting season ahead.

We’ll be back for the return of our collaboration series, and we can’t wait to welcome you back. Bookings are available online for dates after the break.

We’ve got some exciting things planned for the months ahead, so keep an eye out.

See you soon.

Indian Chook Shop by SAADI x Avani

For one night only, we’re handing over the kitchen to our friends at SAADI for an Indian Chook Shop experience, paired with a special Avani wine list.

On pour will be our 2022 Syrah, bringing dark fruit, spice and savoury depth that beautifully complements the smoky, charcoal-kissed flavours of the menu. Alongside it, our 2025 Saignée, a bright, chilled Pinot Noir with notes of wild strawberry and gentle spice, offering a fresh counterpoint to the richness of the food.

To pair from the charcoal spit comes SAADI’s take on chicken cafreal. Expect snacks to start, bold flavours throughout, and wines selected to elevate every course.

Friday 20 June, from 4pm. Bookings through Saadi’s website.

Our menu is shaped by the meeting of Indian flavours and native Australian ingredients.

Our take on bun muska which is a Mumbai Parsi cafe classic, includes house made pav buns serves with local cultured butter infused with wattleseed, fennel and blackcurrant - a light, fluffy bread paired with distinctly Australian flavours.

Pair this little snack with a glass of Pinot Gris.

Spotlighting the 2022 Avani Syrah - a cooler ripening period and good sunlight hours late in the season allowed for great flavour development and concentration.

Grown on our home block here in Red Hill South, which has a combination of rich red clay and leaner silty loam - the wines have a balance of fruit drive, depth and delicate aromatics.

Pair it with our slow cooked lamb shoulder marinated in cinnamon myrtle and a royal spice mix.

We currently have pouring:
Avani ‘Issan Vineyard’ Pinot Noir 2021 (Gippsland)
Avani Syrah 2022 (Red Hill South)

Meet Deepak, the Culinary Director of Avani Wines.

Deepak blends classical French technique, Indian heritage and Australian native ingredients to design a menu that brings Indian flavours into the Australian wine bar experience.

The slow-cooked lamb shoulder is a perfect example - light, balanced and beautifully spiced, it’s a dish that delivers depth of flavour and elegance in every bite.

For us, winemaking begins with listening closely to the vineyard.

As fruit arrives at the winery, Shashi and Rohit spend time tasting through each parcel - understanding what the season has given, where each vineyard has spoken clearly, and how best to guide the wines from there.

At Avani, the process has always been rooted in trust: trust in the vineyard, a gentle hand in the cellar, and careful attention to every detail along the way.

Bold, smoky and irresistibly moreish.

Inspired by the Portuguese flavours woven through Goan cuisine - our Choris Pão features a house-made brioche bun filled with spicy chorizo simmered in a tangy tomato and coconut sauce, finished with pickled onion for brightness and crunch.

It’s hard to stop at just one!

Why we love skin-contact wines - textural, savoury & unexpected.

Skin-contact winemaking involves fermenting white grapes on their skins, much like red wine, to build texture, savoury complexity and gentle tannin. It’s also one of the oldest wine traditions in the world, dating back thousands of years to Georgia, where wines were fermented in underground clay vessels known as
qvevri.

Pinot Gris is especially beautiful for this style, with its naturally pink skins giving the wine a coppery sunset hue, while even a short time on skins adds texture, gentle tannin and savoury spice.

Our 2025 Amrit Skin-Contact Pinot Gris sits in a beautifully textural space - fragrant with ginger, curry
leaf and bergamot tea on the nose, before opening into layers of stone fruit, blood orange and a subtle Campari-like bitterness on the palate. Pair it with our grilled recheado-style Fremantle octopus.
