Before there were vines, there were cows. White Gates was a dairy farm for decades, with fields dotted with snowdrops that still pop up every winter.
This little patch is in our Pinot Gris block – and it’s a good example of why we love farming biodynamically. No synthetic weedkillers, plenty of plants beneath the vines, and a whole lot more going on than just grapes.
That biodiversity gives insects and other little vineyard residents somewhere to live, helping us keep the ecosystem in balance and reduce the need for chemical intervention.
And if it makes healthier vines and better wine along the way? We’ll take that too.

Join us at Morning Sun Vineyard on Friday 4 September for The Father of All Lunches – a long, leisurely lunch celebrating the deserving dads in your life.

Chef Bernard McCarthy is pulling out the big guns with fancy snacks, pork belly, ribeye beef and a seriously delicious dessert, while Tony Lee will be choosing the wines to match.

$95 per person – including lunch and all wines.
