Hello Trufflers
That's me at the side of the photo of our pavilion - listening.
As the youngest member of the team I am used to being told to "listen and learn" sometimes followed by a loud SIT!
There's was one day when I overheard a conversation with grandparents lamenting that children should do the same.
I know you will understand it's not easy when there's a whole farm out there, WITH TRUFFLES.
But I am proud to say I have paid attention and I'm now officially prepared to hunt truffles as a true professional.
Learning about the old family farm like the pavilion is always worth sitting still for. It was a hay shed back in the day. It was transformed with wood from the farm (the feature wall is amazing), local iron work and the best view of all the truffle trees, and sometimes soaring eagles.
Listening to our hunt visitors is just fun especially when they follow me or Maddie to smell truffles in the ground, dig them up, smell them again and describe the smell. There's everything from chocolate and mushrooms to beetroot, really.
I learnt that truffles smell and taste different to everyone.
Truffle season is the best.
