THE LAND

The 34ha Nocton Vineyard was planted in 1999 on gentle, north-east facing slopes of dolerite-based soils over a free-draining calcerous and Triassic sandstone subsoil. As in Burgundy, home to the great pinot and chardonnay vineyards of France, limestone runs through the valley and was mined in the early days. It is the combination of these soils and substrata that we belive imparts the g

reat depth of colour and much of the character and texture typically displayed in our wines. THE CLIMATE

The Valley lies in a rain-shadow of the Mount Wellington Range to the west. Rainfall is moderate and the vineyard has drip-feed irrigation from our own 360 megalitre dam for use in drier periods. More importantly, the rainfall pattern is ideal, allowing for uninterrupted Spring flowering and fruit set while the long, warm and dry Indian summer and autumn ripening days develop colour and flavour with cool to cold night temperatures fixing grape acids and building structure. THE VINES

Our vineyard is planted to selected Burgundy clones of pinto noir plus chardonnay, merlot, sauvignon and small quantities of riesling and semillon. The mature vines are carefully hand-pruned to ensure balanced yields and then left to do what they do best - provide fruit and wines that are exceptional individual expressions of their birthplace.

Can you believe we’ve sold over 100kgs of our Mulled Wine spice mix since July last year? …We can!! 🍷✨

Our much loved Mulled Wine spice bags are ready for you to enjoy again, the perfect way to fill your home with winter warmth and create your own cosy Nocton Moment.

Pop into the Cellar Door, give us a call, or send us an email to place your order. We can’t wait to keep sharing this little winter tradition with you all ❤️

A reminder of the story...
You’ve all gone absolutely WILD for these… and honestly, same!
Funny to think this all started last year with me (Laura) grumbling in the kitchen (I also dislike the kitchen greatly), frustrated that I just could not make a decent batch of mulled wine. Eight failed attempts later, a whole lot of wasted time (but no wasted wine, don’t worry!), and I was still craving something rich, spicy, and comforting without the faff.
As a single mum, I just didn’t have time for slow cookers, spice shopping, or praying I got the timing right. I wanted delicious, consistent, no fuss mulled wine… instantly. (If you know me, you’re probably laughing because yes... it had to be now.)
Then, magic happened. I told my story to the right person at exactly the right time. Enter: Russell from Tasmanian Kitchen Pantry, the genius who made my dream a reality. He took my chaotic mulled wine journey and turned it into something truly special.
✨ Nocton’s Mulled Wine Spice bags were born.
The first of their kind.
Tasmanian made.
Exclusively ours.
And a total game changer.
Now, I can pour a glass of wine, pop in a teabag, wait 10 minutes… and bam!! perfect mulled wine, every single time.
No waste. No guesswork. No mess. Just 15 minutes to spicy, warming bliss.
And by the looks of it, you love them just as much as I do. Over 350 tea bags are already out in the wild across Australia! 🥰
Thank you for embracing this little story of mine. These mulled wine teabags have become a part of our identity here at Nocton, handcrafted, heartfelt, and just a little bit magical.
So go on… have a cup, raise a glass, and make your own Nocton moment.
🫖🍷❤️
